That’s genuinely sad as in pathetic. This is as close to comedy as he’ll ever get.

Eric July comic thing is a big ol' meh, he needs to grow a back bone or get off the internet.

I’m too busy enjoying the sight of Dax and Vito coping, seething and turning into human sour grapes.

They feel downright entitled to success and fan worship. Instead of doing a serious audit of their efforts and figuring out what needs to change for shit to start working, they focus on trolling the guy who did what they could not.

The text board on 16chan had one post. As soon as it was created I laid out rules that my operation was different from 8chan, was more strict, and that they were better off on 8chan. I don't think anyone actually posted there because 16chan was only around a few months. 16chan should be understood in the context of wanting to avoid 8chan's mistakes, the largest of which being Fredrick's tolerance of the pedophiles.

I don't know much(or anything) of Eric July or Vito but I have had a side interest in Isom mainly because it was and still is being shitposted about pretty hard. I'll try to quickly summarize some of the context surrounding the funding of the comic and how it was marketed because I think it might be interesting and I hope a better sleuth would have more context into it.

Spoiler: Funding and Marketing

• July at some point announces "The Rippaverse", his own original comic book universe. It came with a 100k crowdfunding campaign. Archive Site
• Said campaign was heavily marketed in the Geeks and Gamers fandom and on Twitter/X.
• The crowdfunding was insanely successful. As can be seen on the archive/site, it raised 3.7 million for it's 100k goal.
  • I was first made aware of the comic after the crowdfunding success and I was fairly suspicious that it was astroturfed or faked somehow. To make a long tangent short
    • 3.7 million was raised through 42,926 buyers.
    • A single book cover is 35 dollars(I don't believe it was any cheaper or more expensive during the crowdfunding), going by the total number of covers purchased, they raised 2,193,450. Presumably a few mega fans bought all three covers.
    • The remaining 1.6 million and change had to be raised through either signed covers, posters or collections. The prices aren't on the site anymore but I vaguely recall one item being 100 dollars.
    • Highly doubting this fairly obscure guy would have such dedicated fans to pay him so much in superchats and then go on an insane buying spree for multiple items in his crowdfunding campaign
  • As I said this is merely suspicion and I can't prove anything, and honestly I don't care to. Good on him for making his dreams of making assloads of money come true. At the very least I can say this is what sparked my vague interest in the comic.
• Marketing at this point came down to a few talking points. "Actual fans will DESTROY the big two" "This shows that actual comics can actually succeed" "You don't need a corporation to make it big" "We're taking comics back!" "Look at how much money this guy made!"
• Opposition came down to "this is going to be a shitty comic" "this guy is the uncle tom/ruckus of the G&G/comicsgate fandom"

Spoiler: The comic itself, or at least issue #1

For the actual comic, issue 1 came out on free internet sites recently. I read it, it's the most wow it's fucking nothing outcome you could have gotten from the previous events. The book is merely "ok" as any piece of disposable entertainment is. Mediocre art, mediocre story, mediocre writing and nothing to really grab at you. If you're somehow interested it's on readcomiconline.
People tend to point out to these two pages as the big gotcha suckerpunch that it super sucks but outside of some confusing ordering(these two pages are right after one another) it's really not worth the time of day.


There's also some common talking point that Isom's powers aren't explicitly explained. This is either framed as "woo what a mystery" or "wow what a shitty confusing comic" but in reality it seems like your standard comicbook super strength.

tl;dr: Lots of dumb internet drama over a comic that people desperately either want to push as a timeless classic or the literal manifestation of shit when in reality it won't even be a footnote a few years from now when the non-troversy is forgotten in favor of the next big nothing.

Decided to punish myself by checking Dick's twitter: apparently Eric July flagged Riley's twitter account because he made these embarrassing skits "calling out" Eric. I guess that's pretty gay and really Eric should just ignore them instead of just giving them more attention. But it's so funny seeing Dick calling people false flaggers. After a year plus of defending Ralph openly encouraging false flagging and DMCAing videos that make fun of him. After defending Nick Fuentes admitting to reporting people who make fun of him and trying to argue it's legal speech. I can't think of a better example of rules for thee but not for me. Can't say I'm partial to Eric, but I do know that Dick and Vito are the people most prone to believing all attention is good attention, so by their logic Eric has managed to do a pretty good job promoting his comic, or rather, Dick et al have done the work for him. It's certainly more likely people are gonna want to check out his comic if only to figure out what started all this autism far more than they're gonna check out Vito's shitty comic that he cried about how on camera.

Dax is extremely insecure, especially in matters of intellect. That’s why he’s always tried to surround himself with people who are even more dim-witted than him.

If you have to be the smartest guy in every room, you’re automatically limiting your own potential. Dax would give a hard pass to working with legit geniuses because he couldn’t feel intellectually superior. Instead he’s constantly pursued retards like Vito, George and Ralph.

That explains a lot about the waning support from previous fans that Dax finds himself grappling with today. Any brand can only grow so much from existing fans; to REALLY grow you need to appeal to people who aren’t already familiar with you.

Dax isn’t attracting new fans and he’s alienating more of the old ones every day. If only he’d kept a smarter friend close to him and was willing to receive brutally honest feedback. (I have a feeling Sean would tell him a few home truths but he realizes Dax is not open to hearing anything that challenges his beliefs.)

July also has a motto of “monetize your haters”, and since he’s getting paid by Twitter or X or whatever for engagement, he’s just been letting them yell in his replies and everything since it essentially gets more people interacting with his tweets and gets him more money.

He’s also got a severely balding trans woman and two low-level Youtubers constantly trying to “one-up” him in any way(Actual Fandom and Organized Chaos), so he’s doing pretty well with yhe “monetize your haters” strategy.

He can be a fun watch if you enjoy seeing a bunch of low-level/pseudo-lolcows be pretty racist towards him while acting like they’re the tolerant progressives
