Hector Martin / Héctor Martín Cantero / @marcan42 / マルカン / @marcan42x / @marcan@treehouse.systems / Asahi Lina / Asahi Linux - Developer of Asahi Linux with a VTuber persona. Made Byuu's death unbelievable. Constantly accuses others of harassment and abuse. Hates Hacker News and Kiwi Farms.

I'm pretty sure I asked when the Byuuicide was recent if we where 100% positive Hector wasn't Byuu or at least pretending to be Byuu but was told I was wrong. Either way Semper Fi man I envy this level of autistic sleuthing.

Hector's definitely not Byuu. The letter was supposedly from an unnamed "mutual friend", but more or less everyone believed this just to be Hector himself.

But this also raises the possibility that the original message to Null could of been from Hector too doesn't it or am I just being retarded and living up to my thingy under my name?

So I can only assume he'll be taking Josh's side in the imminent legal case of Moon v. Hurricane Electric. Right?

It looks like the real name of Hector's "Luna" orbiter is Theis Nielsen. He used to use the username Member1221.

So definitely not Byuu then.
Good to know, thanks!

The remaining two members of nullptr::live are Lethalbit and CAI-TAn. I've always been skeptical that Byuu (as a hermit) would be interested in the whole Vtuber social streaming thing, but it's good to check anyway.

Lethalbit has a 11+ year old Twitter account with 24k+ tweets, which already makes me doubt he's Byuu. However, Lethalbit does seem awfully similar to him in some ways. 🧐 Lethalbit is a C++ software developer with an autistic interest in old computer hardware. He's also a hikikomori who struggles to find steady employment despite his obviously legit tech skills.

Lives on the US west coast? Or maybe just wants to.

This especially reminded me of Byuu, who lamented (here) that he really wanted to learn to draw and also wanted to learn Japanese.

Lethalbit often mentions a "wife" (@dx_m0n), which is the main thing that makes me think he isn't Byuu. The "wife" is an MTF troon from the UK who goes by the name Rachel Mant (likely LinkedIn account here).

It would probably be best if someone could compare Byuu's coding style to Lethalbit's to see if there are similarities. I vaguely remember reading that Byuu had a very autistic/particular way of coding. Unfortunately, I'm too dumb to do the comparison myself.

CAI-TAn is an indie game developer. Apparently he's currently making a Titanfall clone? I didn't dig any further because he really doesn't strike me as being Byuu.

Yeah, he really does.
* No spaces after if or for
* Indentation of preprocessor directives
* Putting the return type after the function name in C++ (e.g. auto func() -> int). Doubly weird in a codebase that mixes C and C++, as you can't do this in C.
All of which are quite unusual.

Lethalbit uses the .cc file extension for C++ rather than .cpp, which IIRC is a Googlism - so it's possible he met Hector there.

I find it funny that he hates HN so much when the people there clearly wants to suck his dick most of the time, only a tiny minority see him for what he is.
He hates any form of criticism, and I mean any, no matter how minor. You could correct him if he says pi is 3.1416 and he would get mad at you. And in his eyes, if a minority criticizes him, then everyone in the group criticizes him.

This has been the case in a couple of open source projects where I ran into this turbofaggot. If anyone dared to not merge one of his dumb patches because it was either shitty code, in a weird style that didn't fit into the other code in the project, or disagreed with the way he fixed something, he would lose his shit and sperg out.

Usually he'd just tard rage "ZOMG GOOD LUCK GUIS YOU WILL NEVER MAKE IT WITHOUT ME" and everybody forgot about him a couple of days later, as he didn't add much value to begin with other than autistic tard rage.

Most people have morals until something hits a little too close to home. He wouldn't be saying this if he were one of the parents that sued Alex or a gay frog. Considering the crazy shit this thread has brought to light, I could be wrong about that last one...

These make my brain sad, especially for such a bright guy like him. I thought things couldn't get much worse than the GNU style.
I use the extension the odd time I have the misfortune of using C++ because it's quicker to type and takes up less space in editors.
