People could in theory do black comedy about rape or other really dark topics. But what you can't EVER do as a comedian is tell "jokes" about being a rapist yourself or implying that you are a rapist. That doesn't meet any definition of a "joke".

The reality is that people who heavily utilize self-depreciation humor aren't really making jokes as much as they are warning you who they really are. They may try to come at it from a comedic angle, but they are really getting off at telling everyone how fucked up of human beings they really are.

to be completely fair to Doug, I feel like he would disavow Nick if he actually knew all of the things that have been causing people to stop supporting him. And I think pedoguarding is a bridge too far for anyone who makes Christianity such a huge part of their identity like Doug does. But he does do a lot of the holier-than-thou stuff about trying to paint everybody else as hypocrites.
