did she say anything on twitter?

Not to defend Vanguard, Blackrock, and especially Anycolor, but there is virtually no public company on the entire planet with a market capitalization of over $50 million that does not have Vanguard or Blackrock as significant shareholders. This is because of how index funds work. Blackrock and Vanguard replicate the index and sell it as an investment product to their customers. They never vote at shareholder meetings. The only way they can influence a company is by withdrawing their investment if the company does not bow down to their ESG overlords. Again, this is not because they do not want to influence the companies, but because of how index funds and passive ETFs work. It is part of what makes them "passive" (and therefore cheaper for their customers to buy).

The decision to bow down to create a page for ESG propaganda is entirely Nijisanji's doing... and chances are they are doing it not because they believe in woke nonsense, but because that way they get easy access to funds. Most big banks will give you lower interest loans (among other perks) if you are considered a good ESG goy. Cover (i.e. Hololive) does this too. You can see this on page 29 of their 2022 annual presentation:


It is important to keep in mind that most companies, especially small companies, don't give a shit about ESG. They just pretend to in order to get better financial deals. For example, palm oil companies in Malaysia and Indonesia continue to burn down forests and kill orangutans to plant palm oil crops, as they have always done. However, now they say that they have bought land for non-business purposes and two weeks after the purchase it burns down by "accident." How convenient.

The same is true for Western industrial companies. Instead of having sweatshops in Bangladesh or Vietnam where workers are paid $1 per day until they die of exhaustion, they get their products from a middleman who, in turn, gets the product from a local company that is not totally not affiliated with the Western corporation (wink wink). This way they can claim that they were not aware of the situation if they are ever caught and their ESG score does not plummet.

It is all a big exercise in corporate cynicism.

Well, as much as I loathe the entire socialist shtick with ESG and what not, that's still worse optics/PR for Nijisanji than it is for Hololive - you don't just experience a conga line of reputation-damaging yabs and then announce on Twitter, of all places, your hundred-and-something vtuber company is gonna do """"""""sustainable"""""""" business from now on. Not without being demented.

The thing is, their business will go on as usual, even with this announcement. A few autists like us will get mad, but then their talents will stream and have the same numbers as always.

There's a reason why companies like McDonald's, Facebook/Meta, and big tobacco are as strong as they are. Their products sell even if the companies are universally hated. This is either because their customers don't actually care, or because their products are so good at their niche that no one can compete.

Nijisanji strikes me as this kind of company. They appeal to a specific niche and create the best product for it. Not necessarily the best from a "quality" standpoint, the same way a McDonald's burger isn't the best burger. But the best for whatever niche they're trying to fill. In Nijisanji's case, they appeal to the lowest common denominator (i.e., low-IQ viewers) with the most generic, vanilla content imaginable.

No, I believe Pippa's vid got hit with copyright. I saw something "Video has been taken down at request of SME" or something like that so it was Sony being fags. Abi seemed to have a lot of fun and even tweeted that it's not always bad to meet your heroes. I thought she had pretty good synergy with the rabbit, might be the pink woman connection.

Funny how they'd have several platoons' worth of vtubers to deliver vanilla-ass content. But yeah, understandable, I don't particularly remember any (over)achievers within EN aside from Selen and Scarle - and maybe Alban and Yugo.

Also, when you word it that way, it does feel like they're no different from most corpos in what they're trying to do, Hololive included - but that's gonna be another five paragraphs of sperging, so I'll just shut up.

You don't need to be on PC to post thumbnails instead of giant full res images that clog up the thread for anyone on PC (or use 10x more mobile data for any users on mobile)
