Man, why is my entire audience made up of horny men? Could it be my FAT FUCKING TITS? My FAT FUCKING TITS that I post on the Internet, knowing for an absolute that horny men love FAT FUCKING TITS. Is this woman actually deluded enough to think people care about her "single white female travel blog" so much that it allows her to have a monetised second income organically?

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Fyodor Dostoevsky connections & observations
TLDR: Both MLP and the author Dostoevsky say much about humankind, in equally exaggerated but also truthful ways.

In one of his famous short novels, Notes from Underground, Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky presents to us a morally dubious and utterly ridiculous protagonist. In this characters own words:

"I am a sick man... I am a spiteful man. I am an unpleasant man. I think my liver is diseased. However, I don't know beans about my disease, and I am not sure what is bothering me. I don't treat it and never have."

The protagonist of this story, dubbed the Underground Man, is a classical anti-hero. He possess no redeeming qualities, he is selfish, spiteful, lazy, paranoid, and a misanthrope in every sense, despite being the POV for the whole book. He expounds his outlandish philosophy so much, that by the novels end, we truly understand him, even if we don't agree with him.

At the story's end, the Underground man reveals that, in his younger days, he was bursting with crippling self hatred. He hated the world, and all humanity, but that included himself, first and foremost. He hated his poverty. He hated his face. He hated how people could be happier than him. Despite this, he makes no effort to improve himself, he lives in spite of his own pain.

The Underground Man is a pitiable protagonist, but at his worst, he is a merely an antisocial cynic.

Dostoevsky is the KING of writing characters that represent unique philosophies; They govern their lives by codes which seem odd at first, but highlight aspects of human nature in often pretty clever ways.

Characters like Raskolnikov, a college dropout who becomes a murderer in order to prove Ubermench theories(He gets better tho); Dimitry Karamazov, a man who tosses aside his noble moral compass for a hedonist lifestyle, inherited from his neglectful father; Natasya Filippovna, a woman who suffered a life of abuse, and pays that abuse back in full measure to all she meets; and many more protagonists and side characters spanning numerous novels and short stories

I'm about halfway through My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and it's such a good show, yall 😊 The artstyle and character designs are so cute, the moral lessons are simple and pleasant, got some great voice acting, and it's quickly becoming my Zen show.

Now, on to some perceived similarities

A considerable theme of MLP is redemption; Characters being given second chances, and the option to turn away from a life of vice, evil, or general rudeness. Characters like Starlight Glimmer, the great and powerful Trixie, Thorax, Discord, Diamond Tiara, and princess Luna, there are others, but the point remains that a considerable amount of villains turn their back on badness in favor of goodness.

But just because they 'turn good,' that doesn't mean they let themselves feel good.

On one hand, characters like Princess Luna and Starlight Glimmer.

Luna was once a corrupted and despotic night-mare, known as Nightmare Moon. Her desire for affection, affection which she felt deprived off by her daytime counterpart sister, and all her subjects in the land, lead to her becoming a monster, essentially. After a short imprisonment of 1000 years, she was released from her confinement, encountered the Mane 6, the protagonists of MLP, and was redeemed and restored, her evil alter ego dispelled.
Nightmare Moon: slain. Land: Saved. Problems: All gone away.
Except not really....

It is later revealed that Princess Luna, gifted with powers over night and dreams, really regrets her actions when she was evil. Severely. Using her magic, she weaved a being into creation: A Tantabus, which, every day she sleeps, torments and tortures her in order to remind her of the pain she's caused.

Princess Luna does not forgive herself for her actions, and feels unworthy of the forgiveness she has received from Equestria. This reflects some characters and themes presented by Dostoevsky: Namely, Natasya Filippovna, the character previously mentioned from Dostoevsky's comedic tragedy, 'The Idiot.'
Natasya is remarkably beautiful, and has no shortage of suitors. Only, as mentioned, she is defiant, hostile, and unsympathetic to all those she meets. This obstinance masks a deep self hatred, and a desire for punishment. Like Nightmare Moon, Natasya encounters a pure soul who offers her love and acceptance, but she feels entirely unworthy of it. She would work toward her self destruction, rather than confront her psychological problems and forgive herself.

A similar arc is found in the MLP character, Starlight Glimmer: Despotic communist leader, defeated and overthrown, eventually forgiven despite her sins, chooses to continue berating herself instead of accepting forgiveness. Ponies have no problem burying the hatchet, once all disputes are mutually solved. Dostoevsky believed in forgiveness and redemption too, but presents us characters in need of forgiveness, but not keen on receiving it. This is an aspect I love, both within My Little Pony and Dostoevsky's works

Of course, characters believing they are unworthy of love isn't the only thing connecting MLP to D. I'm too lazy to continue, so I'll bullet point from now on, sorry!

  • Main theme of D's The Brother's Karamazov is 'We are all responsible for one another's sins', more or less that's how it's described. So many times in MLP, characters discover themselves to be the source of conflict, and take responsibility in order to make things right.
  • D. writes characters fantastically, and grotesquely(classical definition). They are exaggerated, theatrical, prone to monologues, and their sanity is often quite fragile. Characters in MLP are cartoon ponies, it's not Shakespeare, but they can be nuanced in displaying morals applicable to humans. This exaggeration between the two, for comedies sake, works. Dost. is a very funny writer.
  • Dostoevsky isn't all doom & gloom. When he writes positive characters, they are the most benevolent, caring, giving, selfless individuals you can imagine. Between the killers and drunkards, there are positive figures that would put most ponies in Equestria to shame. Characters like Crime & Punishment's Razumikhin and Sonya, The Brother's Karamazov's Alyosha Karamazov and Father Zosima, The Idiot's Prince Myshkin, and so on. These benevolent characters behave in altruistic ways, not too dissimilar to ponies when they're in a good mood, and act as positive role models for youths and older peeps.
  • My Little Pony was made for kids, but gained a demographic of older fans. Dostoevsky aimed his work primarily toward Christian Russian Orthodox people, but found great fame outside this group, even by atheists who dig the way he writes atheists.
My Little Pony shows us a world of light, poisoned by hatred when it emerges. Dostoevsky showed us a world of darkness, blessed by specks of love when they appear. They're both great, truly.

Whomever was able to psyop women into believing breasts aren't inherently sexual should be punished.
They have literally no other purpose (other than to get cancer). If they didn't have some reproductive advantage to them, women would have evolved out of having them because other than attracting male attention they are otherwise entirely useless or even harmful.
