Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

you mean Sakurai, the japanese workaholic who decided- when he was terminally sick- to just hook himself up to an IV drip and continue on as usual instead of dare spend a day or two away from work?
the same man who- not even a year after he finished developing 10 new fighters + stages + god knows how many spirits from near-scratch for ages after Smash Ultimate’s release- is now releasing YouTube videos near-daily extensively detailing almost every facet of how he does his work?
the dude who’s singlehandedly responsible for multiple flagship games from 2 of Nintendo’s flagship franchises (and one historical one that he decided to bring back from its 2-decade-old grave for funsies/a weird undisclosed vendetta against usable control schemes)?

I agree with you wholeheartedly I just find it funny that people are still doubting that Smash is over lol
Sakurai’s involvement is probably done, I think, but I can see why people might not think that considering who’s running the show
Didnt Sakurai say that he doesnt see a Smash game being made without his involvement? I think he might be done as a director for the series but he could come back as a producer. I dont think he would pass the torch unless if he finds someone worthy to take his place. Regardless, Im sure we will see a new smash. Its just too successful for Nintendo to drop.

He probably did, and I believe him, but I’m not sure Nintendo gives much of a shit considering the franchise’s popularity. Would also be very very surprised if Sakurai doesn’t have an army of disciples by this point considering how restless he is (or at least seems on the outside).

Didn't Nintendo also just forced him to make a smash game after announcing it before development began?

FWIW, I think a KI:R port is way more likely than some of the rest of this thread does. Isn't it widely known that Bandai-Namco is working on an "action game" that pretty much fits the bill of KI:R.

If by "just" you mean "in 2006" then yeah, just.

He says that literally every time a smash game is released. He’s a Japanese workaholic, he’ll get bored eventually.

Although I really doubt they would put more work into a game on a console in its twilight age.
They could drag it out like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, put an improved version on Switch 2. I would be surprised if they didn't tbh.

Sakurai said point blank in a recent video that he is not currently working on a new Smash game/DLC, and that he can’t imagine the series continuing without him in charge.

Iwata told Sakurai that if he didn’t want to direct Brawl, they would just get someone else to port Melee to the Wii and add online.

All this talk of smash reminds me I need to get it to play it with the nephews on Sunday dinner lol. Is Bayonetta a core charecter or DLC? I had fun playing her before at a friend's house.

unrelated: Direct starts in 30 mins! Am waiting patiently

Starting with Sploon 3 DLC, which I admittedly forgot even existed. Who guessed that one?

IMMEDIATE reveal of Mario v DK, bold lol
does anybody actually care though? This series has been shovelware for so long, it's never been exciting to me

EDIT: nevermind, this actually seems to be returning to the first game, which had interesting gameplay instead of braindead autorun puzzles. Intrigued...

EDIT 2: Oh, it's a GBA remake. Adds local co-op, which is cool. Same generic remake style as every other Mario remake this gen though...

Launches Feb 2024, I think?

More Mario RPG remake news. Some additions:
  • Perfect hits will sometimes hit every enemy now
  • Post-game rematches(? not sure if this was in the original)
The music remixes I heard weren't great unfortunately. :(
I guess it's hard to properly replicate that SNES soundchip without it sounding like shit?

More info on Peach Game-

Peach can transform into different "jobs" to solve problems. Detective, Swordfighter, "Petissiere"? Also Kung-Fu, which is just funny. All jobs correspond to an appropriately-themed "play".

Story is basically just "Peach went to see a play but then some evil force took it over". Have to go to different plays (stages) to save each one.

Title is "Princess Peach: Showtime!". Launches Mar 24, 2024.

New SaGa game, I think? "Emerald Beyond". It's another timeline-based turn-based RPG so I'm pleased. 6 characters to choose from with them supposedly intertwining?
