Some men need something similar, a more "private" setting between a few other men. Here they're working through by blowing off steam, then trying to fix the problem in the same thread rather than two different threads. Basically, if Null makes a men's ballpit that isn't the DSP subforum, I'm for it.

I wonder if the men in this thread have bros to talk to IRL too: women seem to be better at finding IRL support than men. Men have a harder time it seems, whether it's not having enough friends IRL, not having male family members worth talking to, or feeling more shit asking for help.

For me personally I noticed when my mother died the women (outside of family) in my life would always talk about being there but never actually were, and it was the men who were the first to message and call to ask how I was. I feel like men definitely have support (if they have a friend group that they're actually friends with irl) but we don't tend to broadcast the kind of emotional support we give one another. We prefer to have quiet dignity whereas women will broadcast every single insignificant thing to social media. The type of support men give one another is more subtle and less direct. I'm talking about guys that I hadn't spoken to in a long time, previous colleagues, etc, as well as friends. That didn't happen with women.

They were happy to broadcast their halo in public but in private didn't really care. Women feel sympathy; men feel empathy.

It's all well and good being there for someone but that isn't helping. Helping is stopping someone going down a rabbit hole of their own pity and emotions and giving them solutions out of it.

If it helps I'm on team "I'd like some advice" - I don't like complaining otherwise. Sometimes it's a communication difference between them and others, maybe more of a thing women experience since socialization differences or whatever. I don't know, am woman but also Kiwi Farmer so I am likely tarded. The women in my family in general tend to give advice when you complain so I'm part of a dynasty of weird.

I'm glad you have IRL men to talk to: as I said, some men don't have anyone worth talking to. Like, maybe your dad is/was a cunt and your brother is nice but too autistic to talk to kind of things. I don't think many of the men in the thread don't have male friends or a support system. Speaking for myself, I'm very secure in that field. But it's always fun to have bro time and to shoot the shit.

More women should be taught how to defend themselves against aggressors or be given tools to do so, more men should know when to step back or when to reign in a fellow man.

It's also applicable to "emotional" violence or however you want to call it. Men need better ways/education on how to get out of toxic relationships where the violence is the demeaning and perpetual erasing of any self perceived worth.

Sometimes, "manning up" or "toughing it up" is not the answer, yet most men do not know what else to do. And sometimes, this feeds back to physical domestic violence.
