I've been looking through this thread for a bit because I've been curious to see what RT is up to these days and I gotta say that this blizzbear guy is probably the worst character I've seen grace this company in recent memory. He is a boring lefty at best and a massive degen at worst. I have no idea how he ended up working for this sinking ship.

I saw this post and it reminded me of what I had previously said about Genlock in the RWBY thread:
000122.png
[RWBY]'s the only one of their content that went mainstream and isn't outright hated (like Red vs Blue which they had to retcon several seasons to try fix how badly they fucked it up). Their heavy hitter (gen:LOCK, IIRC) that was supposed to get them big contracts with movie studios and the Holywood elites never went big and faded into obscurity in people's memory (doesn't help that it only has 8 episodes). [...] Since gen:LOCK failed, all they've been doing is pushing RWBY.
Seems my memory on this was correct after all.

I do like the response to Johann's post:
000123.png

But I do disagree with this, because as far as I am aware, gen:Lock doesn't even have that.

I absolutely disagree with the second image. Life is Strange is way more popular than whatever GenLock is supposed to be. GenLock definitely doesn't have as many hot lesbians as Life is Strange for sure.

One question: was Burnie still CEO and did he actually thought that the show was going to be a hit or he already jumped ship?

Watched a random YT video from a year ago talking about Geoff and what he's doing now. I always liked Geoff and as far as I know he's never gone libtard and started having Internet fights over gay politics. Saw his new GF and that bitch is like the epitome of LA Plastic looking person, I would not trust her in the slightest.
Is there anything else new or interesting going on with him? I hope he's still doing OK since quitting drinking. I'd like at least one AH alum besides Ray to still be a decent dude.

With the exception of Ryan, all of the original Achievement Hunters have become very liberal. They always talk about how much they love blacks and gays. Geoff definitely isn't the same person he was a decade ago. He doesn't appear in AH videos but does have a few podcasts: FuckFace with Gavin and Andrew, ANMA with Gus, and So Alright. And he's engaged to Emily. Dude hates being single, I guess.

Ryan is his own brand of creep tho.

Achievement hunter is creating a new group/channel called Dogbark. They are moving away from video games and lets plays to improv comedy.
Basically sounds like Achievement hunter is done and dead.

announcement in spoiler below
As you may have noticed, Achievement Hunter has gone through a number of changes this year. We’ve grown a bit smaller as our cast has moved on to work on exciting new ventures, including Inside Gaming and VTubing. Today, we are pleased to announce the launch of Dogbark, a new content group featuring Michael Jones, Alfredo Diaz, Trevor Collins, and Joe Lee.

Rooster Teeth is at its best when employees have been given the opportunity to pursue new creative passions. Fifteen years ago, this meant giving Geoff the ability to create Achievement Hunter. And today, this means letting the Achievement Hunter cast move on to new creative projects.

Over the last few years, this has allowed our cast to put time into creating F**kface, ANMA, Red Web, Face Jam, and more. More recently, Jack and BK have put their efforts into streaming at Inside Gaming, Lindsay has begun exploring Vtubing as Ruby, and Ky is producing multiple projects, including some of those listed above.

With all of our new focuses, this means we will not be actively creating content for the Achievement Hunter channel. Let’s Play will also look a little bit different moving forward, but we can assure you that it’s not going anywhere, and it’s in great hands.

But why Dogbark, and not just new shows under the Achievement Hunter banner? At this point in our creative careers, we have grown as both people and as entertainers. Much like how early Achievement Hunter evolved from video game guides to Let’s Plays, we’re looking to take Dogbark in a bold new direction that is more heavily focused on improv and sketch comedy. It’s new. It’s fun. It’s weird. And it’s such a departure from what Achievement Hunter has been that we feel Dogbark is truly its own thing.

We’re very excited to share these projects with all of you, and we really do hope you’ll enjoy all the new content we have in store. Through the years, we’ve reached heights we never thought possible–from Haunter to the Hardcore series, from RTX Panels to AH Live Tours. Whether you joined us back in 2008 or 2023, we couldn’t have done this without you. We have been met with so much support as we’ve grown and changed over the years, and we can’t thank you enough for that.

We know this news might be shocking and saddening for you. It’s bittersweet. On one hand, we’re saying “See you later” to a truly indescribable brand. On the other, we’re getting to pursue new passions, explore, test ourselves as creators, and that’s an incredibly exciting experience. It’s hard to do the same thing for our whole lives, and we shouldn’t have to. But, just because we’re not a part of AH anymore doesn’t mean that we didn’t appreciate the time spent there, or with you.

It’s okay to be sad; it’s okay to take time to process. After, when you’re ready, come join us over at Inside Gaming, F**kface, RWBY’s Twitch, Dogbark, Red Web, Face Jam, ANMA, and So…Alright. We’ll be waiting for you.

Love, -AH

They're also changing First I guess ?
Howdy everyone!

Chelsea here again, your Head of Community and Support here at Rooster Teeth. You usually see me pop in and out of this subreddit, namely when there’s some important RT information to share. And that’s what I’m doing today. Sharing information. About FIRST, our membership (essentially… our Patreon) service on RoosterTeeth.com. BUT - if you don’t want to read this post, watch this video instead.

For everyone else still reading… let’s get to it. What is FIRST? Well…it means a whole fucking lot for everyone here who works at Rooster Teeth. It has been a way for you, our audience, fans, and community to directly enable what we do. Despite what some think - we wouldn’t survive without the support of FIRST patrons and we are forever thankful for their continued support. Did you catch that term patrons? (Think Sponsors, but you know, this current day and age.) That’s on purpose - because we’re continuing to embrace our roots.

Since 2020, we’ve made steps of bringing y’all back into the decisions we make and the communication we use. Opening RTTV, hosting events in our Discord server with cast and crew and community members, developing content that brings you in as a participant. Today’s announcement is a bigger step towards strengthening and reinforcing those actions and values. Because, what does that provide you? It’s a patronage models (or fan service models). And they are all about fans and communities of people directly supporting creators and receiving exclusive benefits from those creators as a THANK YOU.

That… well… it already sounds a lot like what FIRST is. So we’re adding to it. More benefits. More ways to say, “Thank You.” A new content release strategy and removing a few things that don’t align with the concept behind patronage and other patronage services. So, let’s dive into exactly what that means through bullet points:

Certain things about FIRST aren’t changing:

  • Still get 10% off of everything in the store
  • Still get access to our Discord with cool badges
  • Completely AD-FREE experience
We are adding a bunch of new benefits to FIRST:

  • Meet & Greets and Q&As in the Discord on a monthly basis!
  • The ability to vote on what content we make!
  • Monthly live-streamed content with each of our content creator/groups
  • Premium bonus episodes of fan favorite and new shows
And yeah, like I said, some things are being removed or adjusted.

The early access period for FIRST

  • Content no longer is exclusive for just 24 hours. Exclusive content is just that. Exclusive to FIRST patrons. (Some episodes will still be free though! But even more will be for FIRST patrons.)
  • RT Originals that were previously FIRST Exclusive (Like Last Laugh or Survive Block Island) will remain FIRST Exclusive.
  • New RT Originals releasing in the future will be exclusive to Rooster Teeth for quite some time. If and when that changes, there will be notification about it!
  • So why? In general, our supporters are our FIRST priority, and they deserve more than just US releasing a show or episode to them ahead of others. More extras from casts, more shows to get excited about, more episodes to enjoy. More is more.
The Free Trial

  • Unfortunately a lot of our hard work is being taken advantage of by people abusing the system. We would love to have everyone be able to watch everything we make, but we survive on the support from FIRST, and need to take steps to ensure some content remains special for our patrons. We will continue have countless hours of free content that ideally can give people an idea if they want to support Rooster Teeth and our brands creating more content.
Well shit. That’s a lot that you just read, huh? Thanks for that. Appreciate it and appreciate YOU.

BUT - if you have questions, that’s fine! We’ll be hosting an AMA with a handful of Rooster Teeth employees who have been involved with this process, cast and behind-the-scenes crew, later this week. Questions can be submitted early here. Stay tuned for WHERE the AMA is later!

One final note from me before you jump into the comments here… these changes are holistic in nature; both for the community and the company. This isn’t about preaching about patronage and bringing up sponsorship just to try and tug at your heartstrings. This is us telling you the shift that Rooster Teeth and all of us here are making in our approach to content creation. Your direct support allows us to do what we, and hopefully you, want us to do. We’ve pioneered and adapted to the rapidly changing landscape of the internet for 20 years, and this is a continuation of this effort. It’s not a simple name change for us, because instead of you getting content FIRST, we’re putting you FIRST in our actions.

Ultimately, we’re doing this to make FIRST more rewarding for our audience, fans and community each and every day. So yeah - adding perks and extra benefits to put you first is the way we’re saying THANK YOU for what you’ve done, what you are doing, and what you will be doing as we go on this next adventure together.

Much love,

Chelsea

On the Dogbark introduction video, try not to laugh challenges is the first thing advertised as main content.

Y'know, One of the most oversaturated and boring content types anybody can make. It really seems as though they're trying to be a "we do anything!" type of YouTube channel, which basically means they'll be out of ideas after a few months.

RT was at it's best when it was a group of friends doing stuff they enjoyed. Now it's chasing trends to try to stay relevant but they are so out of touch they keep fucking it up. Top comment on reddit says it all:

Thank fuck this has finally happened so that the name Achievement Hunter can go back to meaning their old content, which I really believe was some of the best of its kind. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that, but it really does seem obvious that this type of content is inherently lightning in a bottle and that you can't keep the fire burning by throwing new people at it.

Also, can we just appreciate how retarded the name "Dog Bark" is? There's no joke, or wordplay, or profanity. It's just a retarded name, through and through. I predict 20k subs by the end of the week.
