I think Ian knows his new videos are mediocre and uninteresting and that's why this comment which is 100% accurate struck a nerve. In his video where he apologizes for his past "racist" videos he talks about how he lacks confidence in his ability to make people laugh now and this is him showing that insecurity. He's pinning it as an act of shame but really he's pissed off because they are pointing out the obvious and it makes him angry.
