Fredrik Knudsen / "Down the Rabbit Hole" Guy / Loren The Owl - Youtube documentarian turned gay furry vtuber

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Even if Frederik returns to DTRH documentaries, his whole niche has been basically taken over by our fellow Kiwi Farmer @NotATurkey, who credits and references the Farms in most, if not all of his videos.

I've only heard of Frederik through exploring more YouTube documentaries of Wings of Redemption and Spoony, and the amount of effort to make such documentaries is pretty good, but NotATurkey could easily put them out in the same quality in several weeks compared to Frederik. Plus, he's already covered so much drama and lolcows that there is so much to explore with NotATurkey than with Frederik.

Tom, if you get this trashy-ass haircut, become a furry, or send your dongus to your fans, I'll be very disappointed.

And it begins. *sigh*
I'm not surprised but I am disappointed. Now I'm wondering when similar tubers like Count Dankula or (arguably) Sam O' Nella will be next.
I'm willing to bet that Dankula isn't as interested in that kind of thing. Still a libertarian, from what I understand, but that's more unfortunate than a portent of things to come.

Isn't knudsen a failed writer? He advertised a self published book on amazon in the early days of his channel.
Looks like he withdrew the book from Amazon.
The bio has a little info.

Fredrik L. Knudsen (Fred) is a graduate of Oregon State University, where he earned a degree in English and performed research in cybertext. He lives in Beaverton, Oregon with a plump plecostomus.

The illustrator is Elise McCall. She lists the cover for Fred's book and the logo for DTRH on her CV. She was in a video of his but I can't recall which one.

The fuck does Cybertext even mean?
Is it like l33t speak?
Do you disect the word "lmfao"?

I said something similar in the other thread, but watching him devolve over the last few years has been one of the most depressing things on the internet for me.
Most of the cows I followed were cows from the start, but Fred started out so strong. It's a somber reminder that almost anyone is able to be turned if they're not careful.

The problem for me is, however good some of Tom's videos are he lacks the critical thing that makes DTRH so much more superior in my opinion (disregarding everything I know about Fred the person) is the clear tone of the narrator, clear visuals, clear storytelling and clear evidence/sources.
Plus Tom has gotten editors to churn out more videos, rather than fewer videos but with better research and writing.
I really like Joon The King, Cecil McFly or Toad McKinley as an alternative, they're much less drama/tea oriented and much more lolcow oriented.

Tom has also really plummeted in quality based on what subject he's talking about, but that is very much my own personal tastes in content/gossip.

Can't say I'm shocked. Honestly I don't really care if he's gay or a furry or whatever, it's his life after all. Sure I'll laugh at him in his fursuit but there isn't any real malice, it's just funny. The problem is that it's a very rare individual who can dip into such a degenerate community without sinking into it. Maybe he can be that guy but I'd say the odds are already against him.

On his point about this community, I have a few thoughts. People use the term "autists" pretty liberally, I'm sue there's plenty of real autists here but I think putting all of us in that box as an explanation to why we are the way we are is pretty stupid. The Kiwi farms is a relatively big site and while there is a broad culture here it isn't a very well defined one. I these think people would be shocked at just how diverse this site is.

I do think that most people see a little of themselves in any given lolcow but that not a particularly meaningful statement. Lolcows are still human beings and the human condition is pretty limited honestly.

I think my main problem with Knudsen thoughts are that they seem like deep statements but but are kind of meaningless and any conclusion based on them are bound to be wrong.

Interesting tidbit about Fred is that he's co-streamed with someone whose Vinesauce adjacent, Jabroni Mike. If you're not aware, Vinesauce is a loosely organized group of streamers who mainly stream independently from each other. Mike isn't officially a member of Vinesauce, but he knows and streams with a lot of its members and developed a parasitical relationship, gaining what little notoriety he has off the back of bigger streamers within and outside of Vinesauce and continuing to ride on the fact that he knows these peoples to get views.

He collabs with Knudsen pretty often and as recently as yesterday he went through the entirety of Knudsen's YLYL playlist on YouTube (idk how that counts as content) and uploaded the vod to his full stream channel, presumably at the request of the anime owl himself. I expect that now that he's totally mask off he's going to be looking for conflict. Once he's brought in as a guest to someone else's less moderated chat room, like Mike's, he's gonna start snapping at the people making fun of his gay vtuber persona and how fucking lazy he is.

What prevents him for releasing videos and what has he been doing with his time?
How did he get so disconnected from his fans?
Is perfectionist burnout a thing? Where you spend so much time getting every little thing perfect that the passion that led him to make these excellent videos evaporated and he went around the bend to streaming low-effort vtubing? Like the child prodigy who drops out and becomes a janitor.

1. Document the retards.
2. Associate with the retards
3. Become the retard
Uhh, bros? I don't mean to alarm you, but I think we're all in danger.
