What an unoriginal goober! That's just the most generic sci-fi name someone could ever come up with. I think this character may have very subtle parallels to the Roman Empire or gladiators. I can't be sure because I'm sure it's been written very subtly. Lance Thundersmith, it took me 10 seconds to come up with a kind of original sci-fi protagonist name.
