The only thing I can think of would be school events that happen in another town, and you have to pick your kid up at like 9 to 11pm. The only thing I think I have heard his kids doing is some kinda debate thing and some music, not aware of any athletes mentioned.

Many of them seem to involve driving down to the cities which is about a four hour round trip not counting the actual appointment and whatever else he is doing down there. Some of it seems to be school events and some of it seems to be medical. One theory I have is that he has never quite come to terms with living out there in Spicer and always drifts back into the metro area because its more familiar or more upscale to him.
