Breast & Ovary complaints

Give it a try, I did not believe it until I fitted myself with the suggested size and it really made a world of difference
lmao I just got back from shopping and the calculator was right

I didn't find my exact size from the calculator, but going for sizes around it and adjusting the back tabs made the bras fit perfectly.

Also an older woman walked in on me while trying on bras and I learned a harsh lesson on not testing if the door locks actually work. lol

I'm guessing when they say "Tight: Measure so tightly you feel the band might snap" they don't actually mean that, because the size it gives me is downright silly and I'm 99% sure nobody makes anything with that combination. I'm skinny and flat, but it suggests a 24DD and claims 28A might be a reasonable sister size. Ridiculous.

Wow you must be very petite.

I believe that the smallest band you can get is generally a 28", the sister size of a 24DD would be a 28C and the sister size (if you encountered a bra that ran small in the band) would be a 30B.

I'm just under 1.5m tall and skinny, I suppose petite is one word for it but tiny might be more accurate. Yeah, 28 is about the smallest adult size you can find. If there's a teen section I can sometimes find 26, but I think mostly they just call those 28AAA.

If anyone has tips on pumping breastmilk properly please tell me those tips. Likewise if you have tips on improving beast milk supply those are welcome also. My milk was late coming in and I barely get 2-2.5 fluid ounces of it per day. My baby eats like 28-32oz per day now, loves breastmilk, and I wish I could provide her with more of it.

Apologies in advance for all the questions… What pump are you using? And how often are you pumping? How old is your baby? Are you planning to just pump or get her onto the breast?

It’s been like 10+ years for me so some details will be hazy but I had a rocky breastfeeding journey and had to pump every 2 hours at first, and put my baby on the breast at least for a bit/attempt to at every feed. My milk took a while to come in too and my baby had a lot of issues latching, I ended up having over-supply in the end though. I’ll stop writing just now though, so that I don’t just tell you tons of stuff you already know or have tried!

I use spectra c2 with a 28mm flange. I cant pump nearly as often as I want to, maybe 5 pump sessions and two breastfeeding sessions per day. She really doesnt like the right breast, it has a slower letdown than the left. Baby is 3 months old, would probably default to pumping cause I am working part time. They let me pump onsite though. I'm taking Goat's Rue to supplement, I was using fenugreek but the nurse recommended goats rue, I think theyre honestly really similar.

Not being able to pump to up your supply might be why then? I think pumping is such hard work to maintain because then we don’t have our baby attached to us cluster feeding for hours to up the milk supply.

I’m expecting horrifying/tmi reactions for this but I had my placenta encapsulated and I’m sure it was that that sent my supply crazy too, I had to actually stop taking the capsules because of it. I only lasted 5 weeks in total with breastfeeding and then expressing because it was just such hard work pumping constantly on top of trying to establish her on the boob and I think my over supply was making her really unsettled and gassy because she wasn’t really getting enough fatty hind milk. Also one of my nipples genuinely had a chunk out of it because of her latch (she had a lip tie) and I was so worried it might fall off.

Breastfeeding is so hard man so I think it sounds like you’re doing amazing! That’s so good that she still gets two breastfeeds a day at 3 months, do you need to supplement those feeds with formula? If you don’t then that’s even more encouraging, I think pumping is just harder for some people. Could you express from your right breast while or after she feeds from the left one maybe? Elvie do a hands free pump that looks good for that kind of thing, but I don’t have personal experience of it.

I think I need to reintroduce overnight pumping sessions. I can set an alarm to wake me up every two hours.

Matilda has been on formula since day 3 of life, when we had to start supplementing to keep her healthy because my milk supply was low. The majority of her calories ingested is from formula and she's used to drinking from a bottle. She gets some (like 45ml) breastmilk every day, it's just nowhere near enough. The baby is also pretty impatient at the breast, so I can't hold her and pump at the same time. I will try hand expression on the right breast while nursing the left.

I'm pretty satisfied with the spectra C2, but the only other pump I ever tried was a Medela Symphony at the hospital. I'm considering buying a second pump so I don't have to carry it all the stupid parts and accessories to and from my office 5 days a week.

I did not consume any portion of the placenta. I wasnt aware that was even an option tbh.

You have to request it, from what I can tell. I don't plan on taste-testing placenta, but I personally want to get a look at it and poke it out of curiosity.
The doctors show you the placenta in the delivery room. It's to reassure you that it was delivered whole and you didn't retain any part of it. But tbh your memories during and right after labor are kind of hazy, so if you want to get a really good look at it, I would take a photo.

Not a lady so I don't have ovaries but PCOS runs really strong in my family so had I been born a girl I can guarantee I'd have it.

Anyhow I have a question for the femnoids in this thread: How common is it for one of the PCOS cysts to burst and cause life threatening blood loss? My sister lost a litre of blood - she had to get an emergency surgery to cauterize it. Ivebeen told that what happened to my sister is really rare, usually if they rupture or burst they don't cause that much blood loss?

Isn't PCOS another one of those disease mostly for obese subhumans and thus easily preventable? I think like half of those with PCOS also have type 2 diabetes as well because they eat so much.
AFAIK PCOS is one of those disease that's triggered by hormonal issues, so that makes sense to be associated with obesity when you take into account the estrogenic nature of fat.

The women in my family are very physically fit and active. At the risk of power leveling, my younger sister (who had the cyst thst burst) played women's hockey at the national level and my older sister is a power lifter, yet they both have PCOS, so maybe while it is more common among fat people it isn't unique to them.

Regardless, this doesn't answer my question.

Not sure on the risk of PCOS bursting, I've been diagnosed with PCOS and Endometriosis. Never heard of the cysts bursting, i don't want to say your fam was unlucky but it sounds like your fam was unlucky.

better off reviewing medical journals for the averages of that happening honestly.

The cysts from PCOS are pretty small and I've never seen a case of that much blood loss from one of them rupturing. Could maybe happen though considering the whole pelvic area is very well vascularized.

Now you can have PCOS and certainly get a different form of ovarian cyst, of which there are several. And those can get quite large and potentially kill you from blood loss if they pop.

(biggest ovarian cyst on record was 328 lbs btw if you're interested)

Yeah so I'm guessing my baby sister was just unlucky. Looking it up, it is very rare but not unheard of. Some of my EMS coworkers have had similar cases.

If anyone is curious, my sister is fine and she's recovered from the blood loss.

Well, that’s it. I think I’m done with breastfeeding. I feel lousy about it, as if I should have leaned harder into exclusive pumping. But I never got a realistic supply of milk to support a baby, so tg for formula I guess. I don’t think I could have survived having a nice fat healthy baby girl only to watch her starve at the breast.

I’m trying to forgive myself for giving up on this. I hope second and subsequent babies have an easier time than Tilly did.
