If fucking a pooner is taking advantage of a mentally ill woman, genuinely curious where the line ends? Is fucking a flat earth believer taking advantage? What about someone who believes in horoscopes and tarot cards? I’m not trying to justify myself here, I stand by what I said, but I wanna know if there’s a difference?

I think the reason why people say that it's "taking advantage" is because the men in question are lying to the pooners about seeing them as male, calling them doods and saying they're totally masc AF. So by that logic, it would be similarly wrong to pretend to be really into feminism or 18th century fashion in order to fuck a hot girl in your Astronomy 101 class. (Or, reading up about tarot cards or flat earth theory and playing along with it, to use your example.)

I guess the reason why this is worse is that telling a pooner that she's a hot d00d is technically affirming her self-harm. It would be perfectly ethical if you met a pooner, fucked her, and told her that she was a real woman the whole time. But that probably wouldn't work.

Sometimes it seeks you out. I had a friend in high school, great guy, but his personality could be described as "generic nice guy" along with being tall and athletic and handsome. There's a two fold problem:
1. Regardless of whether it's ethical or not, it's pretty gross. If you're straight, and want easy sex, femboys are the solution.

As to the question of whether or not it's ethical, there's a few factors to consider.

1. Is the pooner exhibiting promiscuous sexual behavior as a result of abuse?
2. Is claiming to be a gay man deceit?
3. Is claiming to consider the pooner a man unethical?
4. Does one affirm the pooner's delusion?

As to the first one, a large number of pooners are victims of sexual abuse at some point in their lives. A common result of sexual abuse at a young age is hypersexuality. There is a question as to whether having sex with someone in this position is taking advantage of them. However, by that definition, most men who engage in hookup culture are taking advantage of women; mentally sane women don't like short-lived hookups. I think this point is pretty moot.

Is claiming to be a gay man deceit? You have to think about the pooner's definition of "gay" to answer this question. If the pooner believes that those who are attracted to her are gay (or bisexual), then is it really deceit?

#3 is when the ethical question begins to manifest. Deceit of any kind to get sex is ethically shaky at best. However, deceit is, to some degree, a part of dating and hookup culture. Tinder photos tend to be flattering poses, angles, filters etc. If you accept deceit as a part of hookup culture, then you can argue that deceit is not inherently unethical...

#4 This is where the true lack of ethics shows. Encouraging people to be mentally ill is an immoral act. It can be understood in the context of using a troon's preferred pronouns, which is an attempt to avoid the social/legal/employment sanctions that may come as a result of using a troon's actual pronouns. There is no social sanction that forces men to fuck pooners.

Verdict: it's an immoral act.

Luring someone into having sex with you who is of not sound mind is inherently predatory, even if they are exhibiting predatory traits themselves by invading spaces they do not belong in.
