What the actual fuck does any of this actually mean? I mean, the comment he's reporting HAS to be real because it *begins* like exactly the sort of made up shit the extreme right #MAGA people would invent. "Some fucking hippie came into my Subway just now and demanded a free sandwich because he supports #BLM", etc. It's the political opposite of the tumblr style posts that end with everyone on the bus standing up an applauding, yaknow? And there's no way in hell Dobson would be backing the anti-BLM crowd with this sort of propaganda.
So.. it happened? But. But. But what does THAT even mean? Like, I know like at Sept 11, and I mean like, immediately during the actual Sept 11 event, it was reported that some Subway or something said to a cement-dust covered FDNY dude asking for bottled water for all his workers "That'll be $30" and everyone in the entire goddamn country fucking flipped out and said WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A FUCKING SOUL-SHATTERING TRAGEDY HERE, HOW DARE YOU CHARGE THESE HEROES FOR WATER. Like, whether or not you agree with that logic, you can understand the community outrage. But this is worlds.. WORLDS.. removed from that.
I mean, even if the story was [CURRENT YEAR] "Hi, I'm a regular firefighter and because my job requires me to take risks I'd like a free Subway"(1) it would still be like "haha what? no, get the fuck out of there". It's not even plausible if the person was "hey i volunteer with helping the homeless, where's my free Subway?". You know who gets free Subway? People with
Subway coupons. And that's basically it.
Even if you recast the whole #BLM current matter as an actual crisis on the actual horrifying and immediate terms of Sept 11 (as opposed to "aw shit, they shot another black guy, we gotta fucking fix this whole goddamn mess, somehow, right?"), how would a #BLM person suitably identify themselves as a #BLMer? "Here's a screenshot of some hashtags I've used, now where's my free Subway?"
It makes no fucking sense, and it apparently happened. Because I can't imagine why Dobson would want to portray BLMers as selfish clueless people *and* while holding that view, he wants to be seen to be supporting them.
I'm not trying to be funny, does this make even a goddamn lick of sense to anyone? Are there any groups of people who either by career or affiliation that are known to demand free food from restaurants? Is it a thing?
(1) - minor real world example where this actually happens is more of a reverse solicitation whereby fast food restaurants offer free food to cops because it means the cops are more likely to hang out around there and thus make the area safer. That's nothing like what's apparently happening above, though.
