HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A bank recently shut down the accounts of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ media company, citing unauthorized transactions — a move that caused panic at the business when its balances suddenly dropped from more than $2 million to zero, according to a lawyer for the company.

The action last week by Axos Bank also exposed worry and doubt at the company, Free Speech Systems, about being able to find another bank to handle its money.

Jones, a conservative provocateur whose Infowars program promotes fake theories about global conspiracies, UFOs and mind control, is seeking bankruptcy protection as he and his company owe $1.5 billion to relatives of victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut.

The debt is the result of the families winning lawsuits against Jones for his calling the massacre that killed 26 people a hoax and his supporters threatening and harassing the victims’ families.

A lawyer for Free Speech Systems, Ray Battaglia, told a federal bankruptcy judge in Houston on Tuesday that Axos Bank had shut down the company’s accounts on Aug. 21 “without notice or warning.”

Battaglia said he and a court-appointed overseer of Free Speech Systems’ finances were both out of the country when they received “frantic” messages about the company’s bank balances dropping to zero.

Bank officials, he said, didn’t provide much information.

According to Battaglia, Axos claimed it had contacted Free Speech Systems in July about a transaction and the company did not respond, which Battaglia disputed. The bank also indicated there were unauthorized transactions, but didn’t go into detail, he said. He said the bank informed Jones’ company that it would be sending a cashier’s check for the total balance.

“So we’re perplexed,” Battaglia told the bankruptcy judge. “We have no answers for the court. They (the bank) have not provided us with any.”

Battaglia said the media company will have to seek another bank or take Axos to court “because we just don’t know who will bank us.” At the request of Jones’ lawyers, Axos did agree to reopen the company’s accounts for 30 days but it appears it will not extend the relationship beyond that, he said.

Spokespeople for Axos did not return email messages seeking comment Wednesday. An email sent to Infowars also went unanswered, as have previous messages.

Jones and Free Speech Systems make the bulk of their money from selling nutritional supplements, survival gear, books, clothing and other merchandise, which Jones hawks on his daily web and radio show.

According to the company’s most recent financial statement filed in bankruptcy court, it had more than $2.5 million in its Axos accounts at the end of August after bringing in more than $3 million in revenue during the month. The company paid out over $2 million in expenses and other costs, leaving a net cash flow of $1 million.

The bankruptcy judge, Christopher Lopez, will be deciding how much money Jones and Free Speech Systems will have to pay creditors, including the Sandy Hook families. Jones is appealing the court awards, citing free speech rights and missteps by judges.

In 2018, social media companies including Facebook, YouTube and Apple banned Jones from their platforms. It is not clear if Jones’ views have anything to do with Axos Bank’s actions.

Forgive me for being late and gay with this question, but if I’m Alex Jones, how am I supposed to pay 1.5 billion in debt? He’ll never make that much money, nothing he owns is worth that much, and you can’t throw people in prison for debt. If I’m him, and I lose my appeals, how is that 1.5 billion anything other than a number on paper?

I understand they’ll take money from him for the rest of his life, but he’ll never pay off the full debt, so why even give a shit? Hell, I’d probably quit my businesses and just start living off of government gibs so that they basically pay themselves with their own money, just to stick it to them. What’s the point anyway? I’m curious to see if my logic here is way off or there really is no point in him worrying about a debt so big he’ll never get out from under it.

This whole $1.5 billion is just them making an example of him, like how they’ve given out stupidly long prison sentences to the January 6th protestors.
Simple, it's a struggle session. Jones talked about something he shouldn't have, if it wasn't Sandy Hooks it would have been something else.
It's been years since I looked into this, but I always found something fucky with SH. I do still remember evidence of Crisis Actors, and now that I'm reading this thread there is supposedly evidence of Finders tier satanic child rape tunnels. Wouldn't be surprised if this was it, and seeing Jones get fucked will make anyone think twice about speaking up on SH again.

Personally, I would feel sorry for Jones...but he did go on that needless tirade about how evil Hitler was for no reason to damage control the hilarious Kanye West interview, so....
Not to say I didn't enjoy InfoWars back in Obama era and Ron Paul era, but eventually him just not naming the Jew and doing more to poison the well with gay frogs and such made him more of a burden. Now that Internet is much more widespread and you can find whatever information you're looking for(at least for now) within seconds, his show largely became irrelevant and more of a side show for conspiracy boomers.
I will regain some respect for Jones if he actually fights back somehow or realizes that he has nothing left to lose and puts money where his mouth is, but I doubt it. I think he's beaten down at this point, and even if he wanted to do something himself, the gov. can just do something to his kids or wife so he has to think about that as well.

Hence why when you shop around for a bank, look through their socials and website. Try to be thorough to see what their messaging is and understand their values.

And stick with locals for better mileage.
I think this should show people that it's better to go oldschool and keep your money in your couch, more than anything. Never trust a bank and never deposit more than you need into your account.
Crypto is safer, for now but that might also change soon.

Jones is just the latest of many. "debanking" was already happening in Canada, and likely will get worse in the U.S as well.
This guy got debanked because the Canada anti-hate network fabricated a load of BS that he was the leader of a terrorist group, and now the Canadian government is caught in a huge scandal dubbed #hategate, and that happened BEFORE the whole applauding a literal nazi thing.
As i said before, if you want to see trends in cancel culture BS, the U.S and Canada usually act as canaries in the coalmine for eachother. what one does the other just shortly follows. debanking is one of these instances. It is going to get worse.

Regardless of anything else, Alex Jones is clearly the canary in the coalmine, and has been for quite some time. That's already more than most people have done.

Edit because I'm retarded and I originally double-posted:
i hate banks and i also hate alex jones
the guy is either severely mentally ill (if he believes the shit he says) or a malicious enemy (if he knowingly spreads made up bullshit)
overall his effect on the right has been a disaster much like qanon and trumps cult of personality
Basically everything he says is an exaggerated version of something more or less real, with made-up details and delivered in a sensationalistic way. But the overall picture (that the world is at a crossroads between a human future and an anti-human future enabled by technology and greatly desired by most States and elites) is mostly correct.
Yes, when he starts sperging out about specifics in American politics it's close to 99% bullshit, but I don't care much about the specifics of US politics. Or parliamentary politics in general.

We need financial services neutrality laws of some sort. At the very least for banking and payment processing. Probably should also extend to CC too. These services in the modern world are already essential and nearly, if not as important as phone, power and water. Remember that ghouls want us to move to an all digital system too. Imagine that with a banking and financial system that could refuse you for no reason.

This shit is why I was so hopeful for crypto and Defi. Compound is actually one of my favorite "banks" but now the feds want to kill/control that as well. They just won't let go bros.

Don't forget that most/all the exchanges soon after coming online, promptly started thought policing who they allowed to use their services. crypto was largely rendered irrelevant pretty quickly after coming into being. There might be something useful left, but that won't matter after the government is done destroying and subjugating what's left. Don't forget that the government and political class loves using the financial system as their private money police and generally enforce such efforts with swift, quiet, nearly unchallengeable criminal penalties for failing to play game.

There was a slope to begin with?
It's more like a waterslide; but we're not hitting a nice deep pool at the end, it's either gonna be spikes or busted up asphalt.

Pretty much this, I got really fucking pissed when Arrowhead absorbed my local credit union. I do keep other bank accounts as they're multi-national and what-not, but I enjoyed having a bank where I can call the number and not get a switchboard, and I can ask for a specific person and we know each other, and not just because we're both local, but because they knew my mom, and knew me as a child, or we went to school together.

Never really thought much about the Sandy Hook stuff, and still iffy about it, but I can't ignore how the ruling against him was issued, and then adjusted higher and higher a few times, to such an astronomical number, it dwarfs some countries GDP. Then whether it's true or not, I see that it's not about justice, but sending a message, and I'm just curious what the message is, because I have a hard time believing it's "leave grieving parents alone."

Josh already lost his accounts Stateside, and no payment processor will serve Lolcow LLC. Crypto has been a godsend in this regard, but even then, big exchanges like Coinbase will confiscate your crypto and ban your account if you send Crypto to Josh.

No. A private enterprise doesn't have to serve you if it doesn't want to. The government needs a warrant, but they usually lean on private companies to force them to do what the government legally can't.
See, stuff like this SHOULD surprise me, but it is Current Year™️ after all, so anything goes. Banks, especially since the PATRIOT Act and increasingly crypto as well are federally regulated. How a person or business can be deplatformed from banking for wrongthink in the USA is absurd and the legality escapes me. On one hand, you can have trannys and faggots wrap you up in legal bullshit for years for not baking them a cake, but the post office is required by law to provide service to everyone. So the "It'S a PrIvAtE bUsInEsS" argument escapes me, I would really be interested in the actual reasons and justification for their actions on this.

A bit of sperging here, but anyone who doesn't have their head in the sand or isn't completely brainwashed by liberal propaganda has to see that the actions against Alex Jones, Null, or yes, even Trump, are NEVER just about "justice" but are largely vindictive witchhunts designed to oppress and suppress people that the "powers that be" want silenced. Yeah Alex Jones is nuttier than a squirrel turd, and has been huffing his own farts for the better part of 3 decades, but he has ALSO been right about, and uncovered alot of shit that certain people didn't ever want to get exposed. The whole "Turning the frogs gay" that became a meme and lambasted him as a buffoon by (((the media)))? Look up the effects that Atrazine has on aquatic wildlife. Here's a pretty informative link with other times that Alex Jones was right, including calling out Epstein  YEARS before anyone else did. There are plenty of unanswered, legitimate questions about Sandy Hook that YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT ASK ANYTHING ABOUT, OR ELSE YOU ARE A CONSPIRACY NUT, YOU HATE THE DEAD CHILDREN, AND YOU WILL BE SUED AND FINED INTO OBLIVION FOR EVEN QUESTIONING THE NARRATIVE!!!1!2!

More like rocks at the bottom of a cliff, just ask Will E. Coyote. But if that bank will be hacked by some hackers and get a taste of his own medecine, I'll hear the Joker shouting "you get what you fuckin' desserve".

We sbould start transacting in gold bullion.

Judging from the fact they had to demolish the building and additional houses I'm guessing it's more Finders tier satantic CIA child rape smuggling.

Satanic Panic was justified btw. They found tunnels under the school.
You really gotta stop believing shit that QAnoners tell you. Even for a rapefugee you're a retard

The fact that we have activist banks now is horrifying.

To all the liberals laughing their asses off because it's happening to Alex Jones, I don't like him either. But first, it was only happening to so-called "white nationalists," and now its happening to "conspiracy theorists." Who tf knows who they'll debank next. What a scary time.

It also guarantees he basically can't do anything but pay off that debt.

It would be pretty funny if because of all this he somehow became so popular that he was able to repay the judgment in full. If you could get 15 million people to donate $100...
