I think there’s also a flip side to it that they kind of expect men to be the ones being critical of them, because being at odds with cis white men is par for the course if you’re one of The Oppressed™.

But they don’t typically expect women to criticize them, especially women who have been supportive of other causes in that sphere. They expect them to be “allies” against the cis male menace. When it happens, it feels like more of a slap in the face, and causes the mask to slip.

This is ultimately the crux of the issue, I agree. For the same reason that conservatives don't get the same vitriol as liberals*, men don't get the same vitriol as women because women are supposed to be more progressive/accepting/doormats for trannies. Somebody you expect to be against you dissenting doesn't hurt as much as someone you expect to be on your side dissenting.

It doesn't hurt that JKR is the author of a lot of Millennial childhoods, and so her apostasy hurts that much more. Look at all the crying from terminally onliners who got Deathly Hallows tattoos and now have to come to terms with the fact that their beloved series was written by a woman who thinks women are female.

* this is not to say that conservatives/men don't get shit, but the shit tends to be a lot more flippant or dismissive. Matt Walsh is a cunt. JKR is LITERALLY MURDERING TRANS WOMEN.

This is amazing: the customer isn't paying twice, and the one spending extra money on it is Amazon itself, since the books are delivered to them in perfect conditions, they are basically doubling Rowling's royalty checks.

No, the real main character is Strike's leg stump.

The Pink News review calling the book fatphobic because Strike wants to lose weight is hilarious given just how big of a character the stump is. He's actually disabled. In a way that I'd like to think even Pink News can't hand wave away as white supremacist ideals of health and wholeness. He needs to get back into shape and lose weight so that he can continue to walk. You know, not be in pain, and not have to reshape his life around a wheel chair. He has to balance his desire for delicious calories and his need to not be in constant crippling pain.
