But it would really be nice if you tried to publish a new article in NY Mag or somewhere else along the lines of, "What I (and the rest of the Left) got wrong about Kiwi Farms".

We get tarred and feathered for being "the world's worst website" by just about everyone, but really, outside of racist language and calling everyone a faggot, nothing that is said or done here is more plausibly offensive than most of what you find on Twitter. I don't see organized Leftist media campaigns calling to "Drop Twitter", even after Elon Musk took over and moved the moderation needle ever so slightly back to being politically neutral.

The sad fact is that if you try to say something that just a decade ago would have been completely non-controversial, like "Women do not have a penis" or "There are only two biological sexes" on most platforms, your post will be removed, and you can expect to get a torrent of abuse including death threats and rape threats from the Alphabet Mafia crowd in the bargain.

That's why it is vital for Kiwi Farms to exist... It shouldn't have to, people should be able to express their opinions (especially when said opinions are 100% factual) freely anywhere online, but that is not the reality we live in. Tranny jannies have infested every tech company at every level, and they quite literally dictate what you can and cannot say about any given topic, but especially all things trans.

The rub is that if you allow people the freedom to say what they wish, some of what will be said will offend some people. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but I still adhere to the principle of "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." Even legacy organizations that used to protect and defend the most offensive speech, e.g. the ACLU have been institutionally captured by a mob of thin-skinned zealots who will brook no dissent from their groupthink.

That's why Kiwi Farms, warts and all, is vital to the functioning of a free society. This is one of the ONLY places online where you can say what you want to on any given topic without fear of repercussions. Well, I suppose that if you say something retarded enough, we'll laugh at you, but that's it. I've been a member here since the 2nd day the forum went live, and in those ten years, I've never seen anyone perpetrate the kind of harassment we get regularly accused of. We laugh at internet retards. That's it. I'm not naive enough to think that nobody here will segue off to a private Discord or other space to do that shit, but putting the blame on Kiwi Farms is totally unjustified.

Anyway, I hope you stick around, because diversity of thought is always a good thing in my view. I don't like echo chambers, whether they have a left-wing or right-wing animus, because that doesn't promote good discussions, and stifles ideas that are out of the group's mainstream.

I was sort of horrified by the specific case of Chris-Chan in the wake of Gamergate. Chris-Chan is a patient zero and I really wanted to write about him. The extent to which trolls controlled Chris' life is way out there, but it really did happen, and while Null can claim some moral leeway as being just the obsessive chronicler of these elaborate pranks (and sometime defender, ofc, James, baby) and ruses on Chris-Chan, I fear it really did in the poor guy's sanity. I felt Kiwi Farms could be used to summarize trends I had described elsewhere; expecially with regards to the extremist content on the site.

My opinion of Kiwi Farms is mixed rather than negative. One of the things that will constantly bedevil the free speech forum is just gratuitous offensive speech (e.g. ASCII n-word) or gratutious hate speech content against [name what you don't like here]. What shocks me more than anything is the content on A&H. Most places don't have a safe space for Holocaust denial content, for example. This is I guess part of the dubious (?) charm of the farms, but... do we really need to give holocaust deniers and trannies and flat earth people the same place in the marketplace of ideas as mainstream doctrine? I don't really want to teach my kid that evolution is a choice or whatever.

There's some learning to do for most people.
When the net blew up, it was consensus that uploading personal info to it, pictures etc., oversharing and so on will lead to abuse, and that the web is inherently unsafe and filled with predators. Kids should only be allowed on it sparingly, under supervision. Adults would need to be educated on best online practices and how to not fall prey to deceit and trolling. Conversations would need to respect netiquette.
Then something happened, a newfag generation appeared, from tumblr and other similar hellsites, and started to post their innermost feelings and desires, be open about sexuality with complete strangers, put up pics of their homes, pets and parents - and would not listen at all to the warnings.
Worse, other hellsites, like FB and Twitter, allowed people to become influencers and to make money without actually selling any product, and tried to discourage anonymity and encourage public, real personas as if you were in RL.
Abuse online started to be treated as if it happened in your own home.
And that's describing just 1% of the idiotic changes of the last decade or so.

The site is quite large, and because Jersh in his magnanimity allows free speech within reasonable limits, there will be slurs and very harsh mockery. But open spergouts and conspiracy rants tend to be mocked too and if you insist, you'll be discouraged by some temp ban or something. Sure the atmosphere is a bit hostile to trannies, but at the same time the ones that act half-normal, like CommieDickGurl or w/e are tolerated well.
