Look at DONTNOD's flagship franchise, Life is Strange. The first game isn't as over the top, but the second game (featuring the hispanic heritage brothers who get their father killed) is so over the top it's a parody of the political scene between 2016-2019 - Racist republican stereotypes and religious, cultish lunatics make up the villains of this game. The heroes are implied to be gay/"queer" and all of the conflict stem from some stereotypical view of how the immigration system works in America, as imagined by left wing French people who have probably never even set foot on North American soil. They even have a fucking WALL at the mexican border near the climax of the story.
Unironically I want null to play Life is Strange on stream.
Later DONTNOD titles become even more stereotypical and somehow even more milquetoast than prior releases - Tell Me Why features a pooner and her twin and some family conflict that stems from their mentally ill mother having died years ago, a Whodunnit murder mystery that also features "queer" love. I genuinely don't remember the game beyond "twins rediscover their childhood home where their schizo mother suffered psychotic episodes and made the house into a pop-up fairy tale book" and the pooner sharing a kiss with a stereotypical left-wing black man with dreads and ear gauges after having gone fishing.
All of their titles are so safe and so toothless that the TQ++ can't stop lapping them up, like they're some high art or video game version of Blue Is The Warmest Colour, groundbreaking and innovative.

It's not even that, it mostly feels like they have nothing but contempt for their audiences. Like, at no point it felt like "Oh, we're passionate about this game and wanna tell a story", all of it felt "Hey, is this what I can do to get your money? Okay, sure! Go on! Have a ball, you dumb fuck!"
