One of the chronic problems with CG is their inability to adhere to release timelines. It's a huge part of the criticism you'll see.
July, whose not really branded as GC, but is more "CG adjacent," doesn't seem to have that problem. He's a bit closer to Iconic Comics than CG is. If memory serves, the first ISOM was a only month late at a time when it's not uncommon for CG creators to be late by years.
In one respect, Dick going after July is him going after one of the more competent independent comics creators. That seems weird at first, however, I think he specifically targeted July because he's also one of the more successful ones and it would draw the most heat.
