Use Tor if you're struggling. I find basically anything >2 MB is impossible on clearnet. Also don't copy the image and paste from clipboard as then it ends up a big fat PNG. Save as jpeg then upload it for greater success.

It still took like 10 attempts to get it to work.

Uploading on tor generally works for me during ddos if clearnet is fucking up embeds. It just takes forever.
