2023 Israel-Palestine Armed Conflict

Its important to remember in this context that most Israeli's are dual nationals. Take any claims of "X Countries citizens" were involved in the fighting with copious amounts of salt.
A lot of Israelis have dual citizenship with somewhere else. Israel wants to grab eyes and sympathy from a world that mostly doesn't care what happens outside of their own kind, so they neglect to mention the Israeli citizen part. They've done it before, same as everyone else.

Edit: @mindlessobserver types faster.
The dead lady who was being paraded around on the back of the van is being reported as a German tourist, but she lived near Tel Aviv according to her social media. Her mother's LinkedIn says she lives in Jerusalem.

The British security guard at the festival who's missing lived in Israel, and another British man who's reported dead was in the IDF.
So? Either citizenship matters or it doesn't.

Why should I care what these fucking Jews and muzzle monkeys want? If they want to fucking kill each other, let them. These god damn skirmishes in the middle east don't need to affect me, I don't even want to pretend to care anymore. These cock suckers have been flinging shit at each other forever, and I'm fucking tired of it. Now the young and stupid are gonna be sent into the meat grinder because the old and bitter need to protect their fucking money laundering operations. Sorry, I mean our greatest ally.
I agree with you that I'm sick of it and would just like to launch all of these fuckers into space. However, it will affect you. It may be oil prices or the cost of goods; it may be a child or descendant of yours having their prospects changed forever or even losing their lives for it; it may mean that the ability to travel freely throughout the world or feel safe and relatively free of rogue terrorism on American soil is ruined. It could also mean WWIII or nuclear devastation that winds up changing your life or life on Planet Earth forever.

War anywhere has impacts larger than the combatants or civilians in the immediate region. Unfettered war in the Middle East could change the world especially if and as we or others are drawn into it. The US isn't very good at saying no to Israel - for good strategic reason in part, and for less-good special interest reasons in part. All international relations involve a certain combination of duplicity (diplomacy, intelligence) and self-serving (national interest, real politik), and that's neither good nor bad, just reality. But the particular mix of those is heavily culturally influenced, and as cynical as everyone likes to be about the US, I'd trust us* sooner than I'd trust anyone in the ME every day of the week.
*Lindsay Graham excepted. Fucking retire already and shut up,

The 9/11 analogy is apt because, again, this was staged and meant to happen. This is so obvious I can't believe everyone isn't seeing it. There's literally NO WAY they didn't know this was going to happen, and it plays right into every single one of Israel's goals in relation to Gaza and the Palestinian Question. They've been presented the "final solution" to this question on a silver platter, and with a bombardment of news stories and twitter screencaps of raped and murdered girls being shoved at Western/foreign audiences no one is going to question or protest against them going full slaughter-mode on people that they've been trying to eradicate for the past 70+ years.
If that were really the case, why weren't they right out there within 24 hours with reinforcements for the murdered troops and civilians, leveling everything, with a full plan of immediate retaliation? In the immediate wake and heat of an attack like this, a lot of severe retribution could be easily justified to world observers. Less so once days have passed and people start trying to facilitate de-escalation.

Same with 9/11, btw. If it had been a cOnSpIrAcY, the Twin Towers would have been enough. The Pentagon doesn't have sentimental value, so that would have been a dumb choice for a fake attack purely to galvanize the American public into supporting war/invasion of [Iraq/whomever]. Even the Twin Towers were clearly the choice of foreigners - they were the tallest buildings, that's it. No one loved them. They didn't symbolize NYC or America, to Americans. The only people who would pick the Twin Towers or the Pentagon are dumb foreign fucks with little knowledge of the actual US who think "big" = "important" and that hitting the Pentagon would either actually kill our brass or at least scare us about our entire military/defense organization.

No. In both cases, the attacked countries were simply caught completely unawares by militant Islamic assholes and unable to muster much response in the first hours/days afterward.

Damn look at that blood in her pants, she's been violently raped for sure, and looking at her face she seems to be in a fugue state.

Even if she makes it alive she will never be the same. See radfems? that's real rape, she's not gonna be wearing one of those cringy "I was raped" shirts.
You're a disgusting piece of shit, and I hope it hurts when you die.

The...chutzpah for supporters of Hamas to demand the US government support the people political actors who just executed a surprise attack, complete with murder, abuse, and violation of random civilians. Disgusting.

That’s 1 apartment block leveled by the IDF. If you look at the kill/death ratio between the Palestinians and Israelis their previous conflict you’ll see that anytime the Israelis attack they kill countless civilians in Palestine. Just because they use a bomb instead of a gun or a machete doesn’t change the fact that the Israelis are ethnically cleansing the Palestinians and have been since the 1940s.
If they were truly committed to ethnic cleansing, do you think they'd take 75 years to do it? And since you put "ethnic cleansing" in terms of deaths*, how many Palestinians have been killed by Israel since 1948? 30,000? 100,000? (30k is the closest number I could actually find referred to; I tripled and rounded it for the sake of argument) 1.1 -3.7 people/day (and that of course includes/is mostly soldiers in armed interactions) is a pretty fucking poor showing, if you're after extermination. Worst ethnic cleansing campaign ever.

* "Ethnic cleansing" can include much more than deaths (in Palestine, things like relocation, discrimination, citizenship, basic rights, building permits, etc., are commonly included). But since you referred to deaths, that's the definition for this exchange.

Pretty much this. The Music festival massacre was a big time strategic blunder considering it was in fact an international event, with everyone from Americans to Koreans there. We'll get a better idea which way the winds are going to blow after the Security Council meeting finishes up. In this particular incidence, there is very little great power overlap like you have with the Korean, Taiwanese or Eastern European conflicts.

So in this particular case we may see a more forceful UN response. Its possible they could even authorize a UN military intervention as a way to preempt Israel's invasion. Technically, Israel could even request this as a UN member. That however is at the very extreme end of things. I think the more likely scenario is the UN commission for Palestine in Gaza will be dissolved and all the support and services in the city will be withdrawn. Along with UN protections for various buildings and structures. As a first step.

We shall see.
Doubt it. No1curr. National reps might mention it, but one nation's 3 civilian
citizens caught in what is effectively (quasi-literal, quasi-metaphorical) crossfire between Israel and Islamists isn't going to drag that nation into war or material support if they weren't already leaning that way.

I wouldn't even bother chasing them into tunnels like rats. Just pump the tunnels full of diesel exhaust and seal up any entrances you find.
Bunker busters are also a thing (before there are people in them, I mean).

A lot of interceptions of rockets above Israel right now
A few still got through

Anyone saying that leftists, and progressives aren't going to continue backing Palestine anymore because of the violence needs to take a look at what's happening on Tumblr right now.

The site, (that's still somehow not gone defunct), has devolved into civil war as a good chunk of the users have gone full mask-off, and are now sounding no different from /pol/ users.
By the way, anyone who wants to try, and gawk at the lunacy on the actual site will have to make an account because Tumblr now blocks you from viewing posts when you scroll down like half an inch on a tag.
No one should be surpreised by this. Progressives only back the most violent people.

No silly, the Pentagon also happens to house a very large archive of data pertaining to money that went missing and was due to be investigated. And the "terrorist attack" on the Pentagon just happened to hit that archive of data and destroyed it! What a weird coincidence, right?

I remember Murca used thermobaric weapons for dealing with tunnels in Afghanistan.

Whatever wasn't fried by the heat suffocated as the fire consumed all the oxygen.

Michigan has the largest Middle Eastern Population in North America, even prior to Obama doting the country with Somali’s and Syrians.

There are Jewish enclaves the area too, but I believe the Muslim areas are Dearborn and the formerly Polish Hamtramck.
Yeah, it primarily consists of Iraqi's Yemenis, Palestinians, and Lebanese. I recall they all came in because of the automotive industry that was booming in the area at the time.

After seeing videos of Palestinians in London celebrating the attack on Israel, I was actually a bit curious if anything similar was going on in Detroit due to its Arab population but it seems like the most I've seen is that protest shit in NYC and DC.

With how things have gone the last 20 years, you would have to be out of your mind not to at least entertain the idea it was staged/meant to happen.
It could be that they were planning to let a much milder attack slip through but through some combination of mistakes the invaders were able to cut much deeper than they anticipated. For instance they may have thought that a small raiding force was going to attack but weren't expecting the massive combined arms invasion going so far as to use the paragliders. Perhaps because their overreliance on high-tech toys left them with a blind spot and they didn't know the extent of Hamas's organization.

If this is true, things could get funny.

There was a battle at a nuclear plant in the early days of the Ukraine war with live security camera footage being streamed for some reason and all the armchair nuclear physicists were discussing in earnest whether or not nuclear plants explode like a car's gas tank in a GTA game when shot. Don't waste your popcorn on this rerun.

I only really do put U.S delta force and Seals and the french Naval marines above Shayetet, Matkal and Shaldag.
Ahem.. the SAS.
Even if Israel is the bane of all the middle east and wests problems (it isn't but let's say it is)
I mean, Israel is objectively parasitic and a drain on the West, i don't think they are uber super villains like some poltards would suggest though. Just have their fingers in a lot of pies due to their brethen in high places in Western nations. Jews as a whole on the otherhand are an issue that needs to be addressed though.. not even from a place of hate, it's just obvious at this point that they are pushing degeneracy and non whites into Western society.

I do wonder if Hamas rockets are more accurate, or if they just have a greater volume of fire? Obviously they're not yakety saxxing and dodging the Israeli couner fire, but it may be that more of them are actually going to hit targets, so the defences have to shoot them down.
It's due to the sheer volume of fire, they launched several thousand at once and Iron Dome wasn't designed to handle that many.

Yesssss, of course! How did I miss that?

And @cybertoaster, not mati, just disgusted by you, specifically. The reasons for which aren't relevant to this thread but happy to tell you why elsewhere.

I don't personally understand what Hamas expects to happen, here. They've made international appeals, but the normalization of relations between Israel and other Arabic states was occurring with the blessings of their various heads of state. Recruits that fly in won't have time to be trained, and even if you piped them in from Hezbollah or Iran that's still going to take a while. Sure, you can hand any mook a gun and tell him to go shoot in this or that direction, but we're also talking about a region whose power, water, and food sources can be indefinitely chopped off and blockaded by Israel. There's no logistics to support those people, and Iranian patrons can't provide enough to go anywhere.

Most of these state organizations anyways never really gave a shit about the Palestinians, but used them to gain leverage over the US in its stint as power-broker in the ME. The Saudis have been in talks to have an Israel-US-Saudi Arabia security pact, openly. Qatar and the UAE have been more friendly. Jordan and Egypt will play ball, as long as they continue to get aid (Egypt, especially, has been desperately in need of food assistance since the Ukraine war broke out). The US, Canada, and the UK, who have of late been somewhat antagonistic with Bibi, basically gave him the thumbs-up to go full bore.

So I don't get it. They don't have any real patrons to come to their aid, and they pushed Israel into an existential war. I don't think they understand what happens when a war is actually existential, and you don't have western actors interested enough to come in and stop the IDF from blowing up a bunch of civvies and fully occupying the land. The rest of the world cares about oil flows from the middle-east and stability, and the Palestinians have done nothing but detract from both. Progressive yuppies are still smarting from all of their other initiatives imploding in the last few years, so they'll wear this one out as a fashion for a week or two.

How does Hamas expect for anything to happen but them to get blowed up and a bunch of palestinian civvies to get cratered with them? In the words of notable pants-pisser james rolfe, "what were they thinking?"
