Sony hate thread

Sony is at again with their "we're going to buy exclusivity to keep games off other platforms" bullshit. However, this time they are doing it with an Update. For those who aren't aware of the game, Project Wingman was an indie game homage to Ace Combat that was great when it came out and garnered universal critical acclaim and love from fans. Now, 3 freaking years after the game came out, and it gets its very first true update that adds content, basically a whole six mission campaign that even has new enemies:

The only problem? ITS A PLAYSTATION 5 EXCLUSIVE FOR A MULTIPLAT GAME! To say that fans have responded poorly is an understatement, as recent reviews on Steam can attest (though, as of now, there aren't enough reviews to hit the game's overall rating, many have been negative). This has been an especially bitter pill to swallow for the game's initial backers (it was initially/partially crowdfunded), who are screwed out of content for a game they helped pay for. The developers, when asked if the new content is coming to PC and Xbox, couldn't comment due to NDA, so maybe its a timed exclusive. Still, fuck Sony for this.
Is this really that new though? Microsoft paid Bethesda for timed Skyrim DLC back in the day, and Sony would pay large sums for COD DLC exclusivity

The difference is that this a game, for which almost no new content has been released for 3 freaking years, that started out as a PC only release and was backed into existence primarily by PC owners, and these same early buyers, supporters, and backers are now getting shafted by the devs producing exclusive content for a console the game didn't even initially launch on and wasn't part of the original crowdfunding.

Here's something a little silly I noticed a while ago. Descriptions for Doom 64 from different storefronts:

Did you spot what's missing? PlayStation's the only one to not mention it originally came from the N64. Even though its been 27 years. The pettiness is palpable, hahahahaha.
Pretty interesting that Sony subtly admits that Nintendo is more fun to play DOOM then on PlayStation, even though DOOM Eternal on the PS4 is a really good game.

eh, that content probably wouldn't exist without sony paying for it. and even if they make it a new game, you'd still get people screeching same way they did about bayonetta 2.

PlayStation Had The Chance To Steal FIFA From EA In The '90s, But Passed

Chris Deering [the president of Sony PlayStation Europe at the time] met with me and said, ‘We’ve been offered the rights to FIFA Soccer'. I said, ‘You have got to be effing joking. Seriously? ISL has approached you and asked if you would like an exclusive worldwide license for FIFA? After everything we’ve done for them?’ I was really cross. But Chris said to me, ‘I will not sign that deal unless you can’t come to terms with FIFA. That’s your deal. You created that.' Obviously, Chris was looking 'big picture' at the support that EA gave to PlayStation worldwide. I think that would have been an interesting conversation had Sony signed that deal, though. I think EA would have responded quite badly to that."

Sony's PlayStation division, however, didn't feel like undermining one of its biggest third-party publishers was a particularly smart business move, so it wisely extended an offer to EA to let them reach its own agreement, which it eventually did leading to a four-year extension.

PlayStation gamers only playing the PS5 for a game series that is not even called FIFA anymore is still one of the more confusing things I’ve seen from sports gamers to date.

They had ISS and PES by Konami so I don't think it was worth getting the rights for FIFA.

They could have easily sold it as DLC, and people would have gladly paid for it, just like they crowdfunded the original game. This game has a die hard fanbase who would've been happy to support it, if given the choice.

not if you get a mail from sony with "how would you like a fat stack of cash producing content for us, under the condition it stays exclusive?". sure they could've said no or try to negotiate, but if that's the point sony is adamant on it would mean the content simply not existing. and "happy to support" is easy to say when people start bitching over crowdfunded dlc because they already funded it. good luck trying to explain to them continued development needs continued funds.

"die hard fanbase" simply doesn't matter in this case, and tbh that's the exact same shit that happened with bayonetta 2. where was the die hard fanbase to justify a multiplat sequel until ninendo offered to pay for it (obviously under the condition to make it exclusive, otherwise why pay for it)?

I'd make a plain Jane pun but that'd be being too kind.
aunt may's pretty not ngl

Not after the first one. MJ was a complete unlikable bitch and Nigger-Man doesn't belong in a Spider-man game.
MJ at least looked pretty in the first game. I hated playing as her (not as much as miles) but at least she didnt look awful. Unlike now where she looks like a 40 year old woman when shes supposed to be 24. Combined the fact that Peters new face now makes him look like a 13 year old. Very creepy.

Can I be serious for a moment and ask: what do people actually like about the modern Sony games? Every Sony game made since The Last of Us has just copied that game's template over and over again. You move a character forward in a heavily scripted environment (tho I will admit the graphics in these games are very pretty) where you watch scripted things happen and respond by pressing QTE's. The combat in these games either revolves around you having a ranged weapon such as an axe or a bow and arrow or it's just another generic third person shooter. The game is constantly interrupted by cutscenes making you feel like you're watching a movie instead of playing a game. Every Sony game I played in the last ten years just felt like I was playing a reskinned TLOU. Hell the last Sony game that I was actually looking forward to playing was Uncharted 4 and even that game still had a shit ton of of that "cinematic walking" bullshit where you're literally walking around and pressing the triangle button to listen to some character talk...

The more that I look at this “PS5 Portable”, the more that it starts to remind me of a corporatized version of the Batman symbol, and now I can’t unsee it.
