I would like to live in a better world. But we don't live in a better world. There is a book by Daniel Yehuda Goldhagen, "Hitler's Willing Executioners" which deals with the question of how Germans happily engaged in extermination. He claimed that the writing was on the wall. That was the unique type [nature?] of German antisemitism, to exterminate the Jews. Simply to exterminate.

There are good people in Gaza. There are innocents. There were good Germans that were tortured and imprisoned by Hitler. There were officers in the German army who mutinied. This is all true. But there is a horde in Gaza, a critical mass, of murderers of children, of spitters on corpses, of beheaders with sickles, liking posts and celebrating.

It is impossible to carry out such a satanic barbaric and cruel plan for the murder of elderly women and children without years of long and extensive education to widespread and deep antisemitic, eliminationist hatred, with a fervent belief in the correctness of the path and racial supremacy.

Many in Gaza need to die today and tomorrow, so that fewer die in the future. Neither the Islamic Bank nor clips from the IDF spokesman to persuade us that we won. Rather, worldwide headlines on how Israel responded, so that anyone in the world who has thoughts of repeating the slaughter will know that the taste of hellish torture awaits him. This is why we have a state. Wake up already.

Unless some higher power gets involved, there is an instant and uncensored stream of information available to both the public and all sides involved in a war. You don't have to wait days for news from the front line and the people involved, the results of your acts are there in an instant, for everyone to see and for you to utilize.

It's a horrible thing from a warfare perspective, because it makes psychological warfare both more and less effective. More because even people that aren't directly affected see the effects in real-time and human empathy does the rest, and less because it can just as quickly mount to a massive resistance.

Slight PL/somewhat OT: someone who is close to me used to work in a 3rd party contracted facility that houses under-18 illegals before they get deported or sent to a “sponsor” in the US (usually a family member)

They told me they’d started to get more-than-a-few kids coming from Turkey and they weren’t even like the “poor dusty impoverished migrants”; they seemed educated (relative to the Guatemalans and Hondurans) and they had a grasp on basic English. Allegedly some of them even had a little money. Don’t know shit about what’s going on in Turkey or why they’d decide to emigrate here like that but I found it interesting.

gonna put on my retard hat for a second so bare with me but: if the papa johns already has the shit to make pizza and the shit would otherwise go to waste wouldn't using it to feed soldiers be a very smart and good thing to do? pizza is pretty calorically dense and I don't think papa slops can force their delivery drivers to schlep pizza in an active warzone. It seems the current plan is to completely destroy the buildings where they get any resistance. This is going to take electric, sewage, and their housing down for a decently long time. Winter is quite literally not even a few months away. Many Palestinian families that will be affected by this will not have the capabilitity to survive the winter.

The precedent is the war is pretty rules free, Hamas vs Isreal, no holds barred. It's pretty fucked. If it's TPD, don't send the 'refugees' to european countries, otherwise you are simply building another blood feud enemy.

I'm seeing the inside job sentiment from alot of people at work here too.
I think its unlikely they orchestrated this, someone on the thread pointed out that they might have expected a smaller controlled attack and were caught off guard, and that sounds more likely to me considering how we haven't taken Hamas seriously for years.
what I think people aren't accounting for is how fucking retarded & soft the current IDF is, idunno when this chick served but the IDF from 10 years ago is not the IDF now. Israel simply stopped supplying stuff they didn't say they would stop Egypt from providing shit over the border. Also leadership said they expect to launch a ground assault within 48 hours. They will advance if they encounter resistance blow up the building and repeat.

In 2003 I had just quit my job the day before the war in Iraq started. I was glued to the tv for two weeks with nothing else to do watching it all unfold. Now I lay in my bed obsessively refreshing a gossip website and I can see events as they occur in real time.
