300,000 troops is the size of the Russian presence in the Ukraine. That size of an army for an area that's only sixty square miles (Gaza is tiny) suggests that the final solution is at hand: It seems that Israel is going to end the existence of Palestine once and for all.

Some analysts are speculating that entry into the Gaza Strip will be difficult because Hamas insurgents would have themselves entrenched. However 300,000 troops makes it seem that this won’t be the case. Not so sure myself really.

Some random thoughs:
1) The captured civilians are already dead. There's no hope of rescue for any of them.
2) Civilians will die like crazy in the gaza strip. Hamas uses civilians as human shields and won't stop. Israel declaring war means they have a carte blanch on attacking civilian targets.
3) The future of Palestinians is bleak. Whether through occupation or raw strength Israel will win this conflict and Palestinians will continue to exist in a dystopian hell scape while Israel will still be the target of terrorist attacks here and there.

There's no way it looks like that in terms of timeframe at the very least. A four year long battle would unironically be the end of the Zionist entity. They would pull out and try to claim victory somehow if it ever looked like that was a possibility.

From the way things are going, I don't think Israel intends to approach this like a normal ground invasion. Declaring a status of Siege, which again I must stress is a formal term under the laws of war, means that this is not going to be your normal thunder run, battle of Fallujah type scenario. One of the things an attacking force in a siege battle can do is physically remove civilians from the siege zone "to a safe place". Any building that is used as a fire position can also be destroyed outright, with no consideration of who or what may also be contained within.

This is not going to be Fallujah. This is going to be Stalingrad.

If it's true that 300,000 are being mobilized, then Israel is not fucking around. To put things into perspective, the US had half of that number for the entire country of Iraq in 2003. It would be the largest military operation since Desert Storm, all for a strip of land that you can barely see on the map. Granted, some like my friend will be stationed all over Israel as a deterrance against other states and entitites like Hezbollah, but that's still an overwhelming number of troops for an area of 140 square miles.

Hamas signed their death warrant the moment they decided to act like ISIS. I mean, they'd done some shitty things in the past, but not outright slaughtering of civilians. Only the leftiest tankies and the Arab diaspora (though not their leaders) supports them now.
