I'd like to think pragmatism plays some part in the thinking of some of the decision-makers on either side of the conflict......
As much as we joke about it, the Hashemite cast-offs and their other-Arab-hangers-on aren't getting nuked and yews aren't getting driven into the sea... So the one-state [no-state?] solution is a non-starter.
The yews put seventy+ years into laying the groundwork of a modern nation prior to the sectarian violence of the 20s, the WWII era and independence... They aren't leaving.
The eternal squatters have almost seventy years in their "victim" scam too... If there are any actual people left who lived anywhere in Israel proper who were expelled in 1948, I'd be surprised; their descendants are a small part of the "palestinian" population, and whole generations of people who were unwanted migrants have lived and died in refugee camps rather than go back to Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia or the parts of the ME they actually came from. They aren't leaving.
Both groups are not especially nice people, and the only thing more stubborn than each one is the other. At some point they're both going to have to accept a compromise neither are going to be happy with.
