If this was an actual op to invade and hold, they would use tanks and killdozers, not jeeps. Its more a snatch and grab, but one that got found out.
I feel I must educate our Zoomer friends. 20 years ago, George Bush and the Neo Cons had a brilliant idea. What the Middle East needed for lasting peace was not stable government, jobs and territorial security. No. What it needed was DEMOCRACY™. At the time, Israel was riding fairly high, having secured numerous concessions and wat not. So they went along with the Bush Plan. Especially since the USA was throwing its dick around hard in the middle east circa 2002. And threatening to throw it around MORE.
So, under pressure from Washington DC, Tel Aviv agreed to allow the Palestinians to hold, For the first time EVAR a national election™. The Neo-Cons in DC were utterly convinced that once this election was over, there would finally be a Legitimate Palestinian Government™ for Palestine, that could stand on equal footing with DC and Tel Aviv.
Of course, we must remember that this is Democracy™. Which meant that the outcome was supposed to be predetermined and the election, while free and fair, would affirm the legitimacy of Their Democracy™. Fatah, the collaboritionist party was supposed to win freely and fairly™ in both the West Bank and Gaza. But they didn't. They only won, narrowly, in the West Bank, and Narrowly lost in Gaza. Props to the Neo-Cons, they did make it free and fair. Which resulted in the worst possible outcome. A Palestinian Civil War. I think this was the moment the CIA, DIA, NSA, FBI, NRO, IRS, JEW, GOD abandoned the Republicans, because they totally fucked up a slam dunk.
Hamas took power in Gaza and released a HILARIOUS video clowning Condoleezza Rice. I've tried to find this video but it has been scrubbed from the Internet. So I can just post Condi Rice absolutely SEETHING at Hamas.
You see,
what happened after the election™ , Hamas proceeded to murder every Fatah loyalist in the Gaza Strip. Because this is what democracy is with Middle Eastern values. And since that moment, there has not been a single election in Gaza. And it was followed by an Israeli Bombardment. Tel Aviv has since not wanted anything to do with "good ideas" from the USA with respect to the Palestinian issue, and the Neo-Cons got absolutely felted. Not just in Israel, but in Iraq and Afghanistan too.
This is history that is not taught by the way. For some reason the past 20 years have been scrubbed from the internet and Its a chore to find anything to reference my memories here. Which is horrifying and hilarious in equal measure. But its important to remember that Fatah are a Collaborator governent. Which means while Hamas murdered every single one of them in Gaza, they were restrained from getting rid of Hamas in the West Bank. Because Washington DC wanted to play make believe that the Palestinian Authority was a democracy.
