I think Trevor was the blunt instrument that probably killed Achievement Hunter. Yeah, going corporate forcibly changed their management style and if Trevor didn’t steal that Palestinian’s house then some other corporate suit would’ve, but Trevor took leadership and he was bad.

Whoever decided that the person in charge should be in videos should’ve been kicked in the ribs.

I love that clip for all the reasons listed but it actually does pose a good question. How did the dude who helmed failed channel Game Kids become the boss of AH? How did it not go to like Jack or Micheal instead? Anyone with seniority or anyone who managed to produce something halfway entertaining on AH.

As was said, there really wasn't anyone else to do it. Looking back at the old crew, maybe Ryan could have done it before his scandal. The others however just did not have the drive or respect needed to take up the job. Maybe if he'd joined a little earlier, Jeremy could have taken the reins but I don't think he would have been a good fit either.

But Jack as the boss man would have been even worse.

Barb fucked her way to community manager, she eventually got grandfathered into creative director, then Trev fucked his way to his position like his gf did nearly a decade prior. Lindsey should've kept the job she was rather competent at the time. Say what you will about her she never rocked the boat because of some dumbfuck vision she had for the brand.

I'll give Lindsay credit, she knew her limitations and bowed out when she got pregnant with Iris. She had the choice of being a manager for a popular internet group that at the time was trying to expand into having multiple groups under one banner, or being a mother who could be there for her kid. And she did the right thing by her daughter.

But as you said, she understood what AH was and what made it work. And she wasn't so insecure that she needed to make it her thing. It's a shame she couldn't have lasted just a little longer.

Honestly, I feel like this might be RTs final year. They're bringing back RVB for one more season and finally giving in to fan requests for another season of Camp Camp. As opposed to just renewing RWBY like they always do. AH is dead, FH keeps getting downsized to smaller offices and just no one cares anymore.

They've most recently taken all of their Red Vs Blue and Camp Camp videos off of Youtube. Considering the awful viewership on their new content, they seem to think that putting all of their older vids on thier website will garner them more traffic.

I doubt it will accomplish anything other than speed up thier inevitable demise.

Rooster Teeth hasn't been known for having good ideas in years. I give it about eight months until all their content is locked behind their paywall without any kind of advertising for it except the ads on their website that still doesn't work properly for most people.

On the note of old RT shows and content they sort of squandered the Theater Mode concept. It was right around the time that react style content around movies and television shows were just starting to become a thing. I'm sure there were some licensing issues and what not but, it appears they should have just had a cut down reaction and then posted the audio of the full length reaction. Put it on YouTube and not behind the First Members wall of death. Alas, too late to chase that trend.

She had tough skin and would laugh hysterically when Michael made fun of her. She worked her way up from being an intern (she actually started at RT just a bit before Michael IIRC).

She knew her role as the wildcard and when she took on the manager role, she was in less videos. I also think being the lead in RWBY and all the projects Michael was in at the time made her want to step back. Michael is definitely going down with the ship, and Lindsay will too. They've given RT their entire working careers, and have everything through it. They have each other, acting opportunities, and paid travel across the globe.

Give your life to your dream job, and one day both you and it may become a corporate shell of what you once were. Sad, many such cases.

I agree. When she started appearing in videos the response was as negative as with any change in cast. Comments were filled with complaints about being bad at games and having a shrieky girl voice. It takes time for both parties to grow towards each other. Personally I didn’t mind her because she did fit in after a short while and she could hold her own with the banter. She was a natural comedic foil to the dour Jack etc, and even as someone who would play the Gavin to Gavin, derailing carefully prepared minecraft video’s to endless exasparation of the latter. I’m sure it got brought up on a podcast at times but I don’t recall her ever leaning into the role of a victim of bullies. The cast attitude was more like “Lindsay does stupid shit in videos sometimes like a female Gavin and it can be real annoying but this dynamic works for us because we get to play it up for the video so try to get used to it, and we will all yell at her anyway so you can stop thanks”.
A heel is good for group dynamics, but they have to understand they are the heel, and that every new cast member starts out as a heel. This is what Jeremy also understood originally and Fiona et al didn’t.

This might be true, but she was still a fat stupid ugly unfunny bitch. Now that Lindsay is a person of gender I'm happy that I always hated her. She ruined almost every video she was a cast member in, and when she joined the Internet Box her episodes became impossible to listen to. (this is really why I hate her, tbh. She was such a terrible fit for the IB.) The only time Lindsay wasn't actively making content worse was when she would shut her goddamn mouth and hold up her iPhone as the camerawoman.

I get why people are nostalgic for old AH, but I don't understand Lindsay apologia at all. She sucked and was annoying. Also she's a disgusting fat genderblob.

Didn't she (Lindsay) admit to taking joy in bullying the nerds (she called them) in school growing up? Can't blame some members of the audiences for insulting her.

They are fans of redlettermedia and they wanted to do the same thing. My guess something had to be made (upper management demands) and it was an idea that they actually would enjoy doing so they just went with it.

Honestly I think a paywall is realistically the only way to make a profit on long form commentary videos. I don't think there is enough interest in public domain movies to bring in the viewership. People want movies they are familiar with which can't be shown. Which comes the next issue where your average viewers just wants to click on a video and watch it. If they have to find a copy of the film to sync up with the commentary, most aren't going to bother so inevitably those videos will get very low views.
