This is a very controversial take. Engage is weeb shit personified but it doesn't take itself seriously and I did chuckle at the character personalities. Im having fun with it. I say this as a 3H fan. Obviously people were always gonna compare it to 3H but its very much Awakening & Fates spiritual sequel. The references and stuff are pretty fun to find. Plus you aren't forced in the day to day drivel of the monastery (which again i loved in 3H). Characters will react to things like in 3H too which i like. And I love being able to run around each field after battle to hear what they all say. Don't have the DLC yet but I'm excited for thr 3 Leaders, Camilla, etc. Oh and finally a book that has bios of each character thank fuck.

A point of contention i am seeing is that the characters are very one note. Well news flash pre 3H they kind of....always were? In a sense?

Could they have done a lot better in areas yes absolutely. But I'm ok with it.

Yeah, but Awakening had an little bit of depth to them,Fates was essentially the same, but with an heavier focus on memes. But the Tellius games might be one of the few that actually has some.degree.of.character development across the secondary characters.

I always considered the Tellius games, particularly PoR, a throwback to the Kaga emblems, specially Genealogy, in terms of character writing.

How is this even fun for people to do? I always just use the units who I think look the coolest and don't bother with speed. Nothing is fun if you try to rush though it a quickly as possible. I will say this much, I actually like using many of the early-game units when possible. Thracia might have been on to something with its fatigue mechanic, since it made players utilize more units than just the stupid meta team every chapter.
