Serious question, because I don't believe our armed forces are capable of doing so without a draft: Do you believe young men (and women) would enlist like they did after 9-11 to fight Israel's enemies?

To that level, no. But some will join up anyway, and I doubt the USA has some massive drought in troops that would make them bring back the draft. It feels like an excuse for someone to do some hysterical dooming and a chance to jerk off over how they totally would shoot whoever tried to draft them whenever the topic of the draft returning pops up.

This is actually how recent recruiting is going though. It wasn't this bad when 07 rolled around and everybody knew the war was somewhat bullshit. It took the 08 crash that drove a load of people to join up.

The majority of soldiers/airmen/sailors are support. I don't think civilians understand the huge numbers needed to solely maintain, crew and supply the US military in a time of war. Also, we've gotten sucked into this before and it didn't go well.

Uuuh in case you're being serious, Christians are absolutely allowed in Israel. Church groups go all the time. It's kind of a big thing for tourism, too.

Federal government shutdowns have basically no impact on deployed active duty troops. Paychecks get delayed which is a pain for dependents maybe
