Gaming companies outsource their writings to this company and maybe other companies that specializes in ESG and allow the bullshit and badly stories you see today, mix it with shilling from chinese bot farms and witness a much bigger shit show.

I saw these threads on /v/ and was wondering myself how big they were, since nobody really seemed to look too closely. Here's the Sweet Baby credits for GoW: Ragnarok, Goodbye Volcano High, and Alan Wake 2 respectively. For reference L&L as listed for GBVH is a section of the game that takes place during a tabletop campaign. Due to poor editing it takes up about a quarter of the game, but has only a tiny fraction of the actual wordcount of the full story. I also tried to see what's listed of them in Spider-Man 2's credits but couldn't find them.



There's no chance a handful of mercenary writers not even important enough to be credited for "additional writing" are solely responsible for every single problem in the industry, and as nice as it is to see people finally realize how much of a problem contracting and outsourcing has become it really shifts the blame off of the dogshit studios and publishers. These are the kinds of tiny, do-nothing contractors that exist to be paid to nod their heads in a meeting so the development budget can be obfuscated and more easily manipulated for Hollywood accounting shit.

In these game's cases we have interviews from Cory Barlog, Sam Lake, and the KO_OP team talking about how proud they are of their inclusive writing. Insomniac has been all over the press mill writing about how proud they are of making Mary Jane more powerful than the heroes in Spider-Man 2 and their inclusion of a deaf character and Mile's Puerto Rican heritage (both of which they fuck up, since the flags they used were Cuban and the sign language that's used is incorrect gibberish). There's no monster under the bed making these companies add gays and blacks to their games - it's the entire industry from the top down, whether because they're dyed-in-the-wool believers, or simply high on the smell of ESG money.

This have been documented many times in the last few years. If you look at their list of credits all the games seems feature a black character or something similar to it.

The gaming industry politically is often described as liberal for the most part which from observation tends to be somewhat accurate. Sweet Baby can't be blamed for all the issues with ham-fisted "progressive" gestures, statements and acts in modern video games but they definitely don't help.
