I keep thinking about this post. It seems the consensus of this thread is that it's a joke but every joke has an element of truth to be funny. I think Josh has a very similar relationship with several A&Ners when compared to the relationship ISP execs have with Josh.
To the ISP executive, Josh is maliciously using advertiser/government data without any regard for its intended purpose. They only ever interact with him to tard wrangle him, tell him to fuck off, or otherwise treat him like a petulant child instead of an adult.
To Josh, the average A&Ner is maliciously using this forum without any regard for its intended purpose (which is where they naturally draw the lowtax comparison). I've only seen Josh interact with them to tard wrangle them or tell them to fuck off, and his moderation policy is increasingly focused on treating users like petulant children instead of adults.
IMO the purpose of sites naturally evolve. The majority of users now discuss current events in some form or another, because current events have been directly affecting the forum for the past several years. I think there there is room to fully integrate Articles and News into the rest of the forum instead of continuing to treat it like a cancerous tumor. The key is just a simple and clear delineation between the designated slapfight threads, designated hugbox threads, and designated topic threads. Growth means bringing in new users - less moderation is required when its easier for a new user to learn the difference between these three types of threads.
