I honestly couldn't explain to you the type of people who you describe to them how easily their desires and demands could backfire on them and they just refuse to hear it. People need to think "If the government/police were granted this power, could they use it against me if the bad guys got into power?", but people just assume that won't happen or it would be used responsibly forever. But for people like Jackie that's like asking "How would you feel if you didn't have breakfast this morning?", it's just too complex a concept for a small brain to contain.
