SkullGirls

You will never be a popular fighting game.

Not gonna happen. The
No, the plot is definitely never happening, at least in the way that Alex originally intended it.

Every ending in the story mode is a "what if?", iirc the intent was to use this game, Skullgirls 1, as a way to build the world of Skullgirls and then flesh it out with a definitive plotline in the sequel (with Eliza being the main villain, explaining things like Samson's previous host etc), and then have third and final game where after defeating Eliza everyone fought the Trinity. Alex never really elaborated on these ideas publicly so people are just left to discern from breadcrumbs and hints. (But most importantly, Future Club will have you know that if a tranny wants to wish on the Skull Heart and become a Skullgirl, xhe can do it!)

Skullgirls 2 as a game is never happening period, Alex and Mike, the only person who knew how to use the Z-Engine have been ousted. The closest you might get is another shitty webtoon with awful character redesigns as closure.

Haha wow.

I should be eligible for a refund for this shit (suddenly 180 and adding battlepass/changing shit for a product I already bought). Skullgirls was one of the first games I ever bought on Steam and seeing it pried away by moral puritans is disgusting.

Why don't these moral puritans figure out that Skullgirls was a cheesy games about ladies in minimal outfits shouting 100 jokes per second. It was never this moral grandiose story.

Pretty sure it's always been like that...
Conservative puritans actually believed that the things they were opposing were sinful, and most openly and privately disdained all degeneracy, and even the hypocrites had the common sense to not openly be hypocrites.

These new puritans from the left only disdain certain things, while openly supporting other things that are even more degenerate than things they oppose (see: this thread and the actual content peddled by everybody pushing for this censorship).

2023 Final Registration for EVO numbers have been revealed and...

Censorship for EVO was so worth it you guise 🌈
To be clear, Skullgirls has never been part of the actual EVO 2023 lineup to begin with. Instead, the devs are going to run a "community tournament" from their exhibitor booth.

If Skullgirls was on the lineup, though, I doubt it would've exceeded any of the other games in signups.

Been eyeing the court case between Mike Z vs Mariel and Francesca, not much to report, but I think Tuesday is when some actual shit might go down.
1691982342900.png

Mariel and Francesca filed an anti-Slapp, claiming first amendment rights when they made their accusations against Mike.

I'm not a lawyer, but Mike filed in support of a judicial adjudication, while Mariel and Francesca filed against it. Quick Google-Fu tells me that maybe Mike filed to dismiss the anti-SLAPP motion and the judge might grant it, idk.

Should be interesting to watch.

Sorry to necro the thread, but a search of download_depot didn't yield any results so I can only assume nobody has posted the way to roll back to a good copy!

For those who don't know, Valve is based and retains every publicly released revision of every game (with the only exception being illegal malware)

Therefore, anyone who wants to have an uncensored copy of Skullgirls on Steam can do the following:

Run steam://open/console
Windows users can type the following: download_depot 245170 245171 2462631669275661615
Linux users might be able to use (untested) : download_depot 245170 245179 4639110195829428096

Output should resemble the following:

Then, to play it the normal way, you can copy the data found at the depot path to its rightful location (wherever you chose to install the game to)

Enjoy!

Lawsuit update:
Looks like a ruling has been made on Mariel and Francesca's anti-SLAPP motion.
1694293345251.png

I think since Lab Zero is the one who filed it, the Judge might have ruled in their favor since the prevailing party is usually the one to do so.

There's still another hearing, however.

it'd be nice to also restore the sprites they fucked with years ago while retaining the new characters they released since then.

It's pretty depressing to see the state the game is in and who is in control of it, especially after all the trials and hardships Skullgirls had to go through just to exist in the first place.

I'm just glad to see that Future Club being massive faggots gained them a total of 0 fans.

it also had an update recently, and people were still shitting on it in the comments :story:

there was some damage control by retards, but it was obvious most people haven't forgotten while the whiteknights have moved on. hope it was worth it.

At this point, I have no clue if either the damage has been done or that it's now been salvaged or even the fact we've just given up and moved on to something else (possibly the latter option, but either way, it's tough to tell).

AFAIK, Skullgirls is on the same level as those random anime fighters no one gives a shit about. If people want to play it, they are directed to a crack of the game pre-patched (i.e. panty shots and no SonicFox), but otherwise everyone is focused on other fighters, which at the moment, the only two that have been on the spotlight as of late are SF6 with A.K.I. and her horrible ugliness and Mortal Kombat with just EVERYTHING being ugly.

And let's hope and pray it just stays forgotten as some time capsule made in the mid-2010s

I'm pretty sure anyone that actually cares about Skullgirls yelled until they couldn't anymore.
It's a fun game that I still occasionally enjoy, but it's obviously committed seppuku and it's the end of line.

I mean, for what it's worth, yes it's a fun, decent fighting game, but it's not something that's going to be herald in the same vain as other, more jaded, more iconic fighting games like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, King of Fighters, etc.

After MONTHS, it seems Short Fat Otaku will cover the Skullgirls debacle. But maybe he went beyond copying a kotaku article and saying water is wet and game news sites are praising censorship because it suits them and harms the consumer. At least he said he got into a rabbit hole while searching.

Hope he uses something from the lawsuit. Some of the evidences the ex employees used to prove MikeZ was a sex pest are so bad it sounds like a parody of california culture.

I have no clue how you guys feel about Technicals, but he did a video on Skullgirls team and MikeZ 's falling out,
going all over the things available for the public. Glad he's pointed out that BunnyAyumi starting a conversation
about gay sex as a first interaction was inappropriate.

I sincerely hope MikeZ, despite being an autistic sperg wins the
court cases because fuck these passive aggressive slimebags.
