I'm not so sure there'll be any fallout at all. The bar for what is watchable on Youtube is so low that even with a drop of quality many of his viewers will still consider it to be top tier content. I also think the waves of "six hour video omg he's back!!!" will drown out any actual critique of the video itself as well as people telling others what Fred has actually been doing for the last two years. Most people don't have the time of day to sit down and watch a video that's longer than most movies. That's why the podcasting format or just listening to it while doing other shit has been popular. For me saying that "It's good background noise" just means that the topic is interesting and the narrated part of the video has quality to it. Since videos also have audio.
