I am not going to pretend I know the american economy or how much grocery shopping for normal, everyday items like vegetables and meat can cost an average american family with children, much less a two-person household with two dogs (with possibly expensive vet bills for the frenchie). In my part of the world, cooking everything from scratch should be feasible for the majority of people regardless of their income, but eating out costs a LOT of money. If the Jomhas were from my part of the world, I could easily imagine their lifestyle being expensive AF and that the "basically no money" would quickly run out.

I would love to know how much they actually eat out because breakfast at a restaurant is basically a scam if you know how to cook. But this woman makes banana bread and scrambled tofu, puts it in a box and calls it bento, so I'm thinking she just can't cook very well. If they get breakfast 2 times a week, depending on what they order, they're spending at least $240 a month if they only spend $15 each. Which is probably a very low estimate. That's only for breakfast, if they takeout lunch and dinner 2 days a week we've now more than tripled that and haven't even factored in all the starbucks coffees. She probably spends about $200 a month on coffee/drinks alone.

The comparison to Joe Rogan is one of the funniest things they've done because their podcast is so boring I can't even hate watch it. Seattle is one of the most expensive cities in the United States and thus the entire world. It has impeccable cuisine, but you are not eating a meal there for $30, even before tip, unless it's a fast food joint. I don't have a clue where they live, but I would wager a guess that they live in a really gay trendy area like Capital Hill (shoutouts to chaz/chop) where you're not getting service and an entree for any less than $40 before tip. I think they also live in a house with a dog if I'm not mistaken, which is going to be ~$3500/mo for rent about anywhere in Seattle, more if they are in Capital Hill. I think I have said before, it is incredibly stupid place to live for people who can live literally anywhere they want. Not only is it exorbitantly expensive, it's hard to convey what a shit hole it is with junkies leaving needles on the street, and just generally making everyone feel unsafe. Plus, everyone there is a prick. It's not even close to being worth the cost of living because the quality of life is so poor. I think they own some property in Seattle and I'm sure they've made some money off of that with the housing bubble continuously inflating, but JelloJerk is 100% correct. Their cost of living is extremely high to the point where it's doubtful even with Ian's past success that they will be set for life if they want to live there, or Vancouver which I'd wager a guess that, with their shit taste, is where they'll go if they move to Canada.
