ETA: Suicide is awful. But in this particular culture, his wife is better off. Not only does she inherit everything, but she's not stuck with the shame of divorce. Plenty of Southern fundies get divorced all the time, but it's not okay for the pastor's wife to ever do it. If she had, she would have had a custody battle with the FUCKING TOWN MAYOR.
