Niggers Eating Cornstarch - And any other weird nigger food related shit

A lot of the fried Americanized Chinese food uses it as the batter for example. General Tso's/Orange Chicken are the first examples I can think of. Also a thickener in fruit pies (tapioca flour is also common).
I don't think traditional Chinese uses cornstarch much, but they definitely used starches, it's just that cornstarch was the one readily available in the U.S.

They also use cornstarch to thicken up stuff like egg drop and hot and sour soup.

There is nothing wrong with cornstarch per se.
i think it's used as a thickener for some things and used in battering for deep frying stuff?
I mainly use it as an emergency ingredient because I fucked up some gravy or sauce and it's way too thin. It's not as good as naturally reducing, but if you have to have the gravy/sauce ready when the other stuff is done, it's a lifesaver.
 
Context: poster lives in Saudi Arabia, where you can go to any local market and pick up bags of spices sold by weight, including any spice blends/mixes your heart desires...and then choosing to instead stock up on Lowery's.

Just going by traditional chink cooking vids on YT they use cornstarch slurry in every other recipe, seems to be a staple in their cuisine.

Edit: Could be that it's more of a HK than a mainland China thing, i forgot i watch mostly those. Arr rook same, sorry.

That's exactly it. Though, I've noticed it's more of a country black thing than anything I've seen in the city. Then again, ghetto blacks are really out of touch in like a million ways outside of their subculture so I'm not sure they typically know what to do with steak.
 
There is a distinctive difference between eating cornbread or grits and eating raw cornstarch by the spoonful. Cornstarch is an ingredient, not something you're supposed to eat straight.
I can't think of a single other culture that eats starches in general by itself. Potato starch isn't eaten by itself nor is sweet potato starch. Starches are always used as a thickener or coating.
 
Cornstarch is used to thicken food, but we use it often to add crunchy, to do a blending with milk that produces a winter dessert we call "cornstarch" (you can add cinnamon or whatever else you want to flavor it. I've said before here it's good to make elders and kids to gain weight), and it can be used as a replacement for baby powder.

What we use here specifically is, of course, potato starch or chuño. We use it to do "mazamorra" and all types of fruited porridges ("chuño de (fruit)"). This is at least a bit healthier because it's made from potatoes, not from just flour. We also use it for chinese food.

Yeah, that's actually pretty cool and changes the texture of meat significantly. I only tried the water velveting method because i didn't want to waste a shit ton of oil just for trying something new out, i imagine the hot oil version works even better. I mentioned somewhere earlier ITT that the northern chinese cuisine also uses a technique where they "wash" chicken in water for a certain amount of time to change its texture but i haven't tried out that one yet.

It has been a re-occuring nightmare of mine going to one of these spice stands and sneezing very loudly, making it disperse everywhere into peoples eyes and they all start screaming in agony.
