Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Club dancing is not helping your case, man. If it wasn't for some of those early poses, no one who wasn't a coomer would've gone "Oh yeah, this is just a visual metaphor for SEX!" Like salsa dancing is pretty much just a visual euphemism for sex because of the moves, grinding is literally "Hey babe, let's bone", and then there's whatever the fuck this is:

Where Pearl tried to shield Steven's eyes from, by the way.

Fusion dancing could've just been an innocuous shout-out to the Fusion Dance of Dragon Ball Z but for magical girls (when magical girl transformations have played out like dancing for ages anyway), but Rebecca knew full well what she was doing here.

Anyway have this silly .gif.

A storyboarder said that Peridot is supposed to be asexual and that's why she doesn't fuse. And forced fusions and deceptive fusions are likened to rape. Fusion is all but confirmed to be sex.

Technically, that's what Riley's depression in the first movie was about. But now she's hit puberty, so now there's more.

The introduction of other emotions honestly falls flat because unless they all have a fusion dance to keep the main five emotions intact, this is gonna be considered a retcon because we never saw any of them at the control board with the parents. They better just be using hormones in a clever, hopefully non-woke way since there's some hormones that are active only during puberty before deactivating, but Pete Docter is not even involved with the sequel, so you just know they're going to mess with his baby based off his own daughter.
Watch just watch...there going to show us Rileys first time of the month you thought turning red was bad? At least turning red didn't show the actual thing give it that.

OK my cynicism aside I really hope they don't use Riley being older and going through puberty as an excuse to make their own version of big mouth. You wanna know why older shows handled the topic of puberty with grace and tact? Ex: ozzy and drix, 6teen, brace face, as told by ginger? Well 1 they had to follow standards and practices and could only say so much when it came to said topics. 2. They weren't written by narcissists with overblown egos raised to belive the "time of the month" or pubesence as a whole is some grand glorious thing that if you're born female makes you "closer to the moon and nature." And all that new age drivel that's so mainstream now.

How'd Tyler Durden put it?

You are not special
You are no better than anyone else
You are the same slowly rotting and decaying blob of flesh and cells and that's all you ever will be

Or something like that.

Based Fight Club enjoyer. I do need to quote WWE-era Rock when talking about modern Pixar movies such as Turning Red or Inside Out and how they "deal with emotions."

I would expect some cuts along the way, or combinations of emotions like how the core memories fused towards the end of the first film. Otherwise that control station is gonna be packed.

a lot of the crew in the show were weird as hell. i remember back in /sug/ days we spoke about how much of a complete weirdo Lauren Zuke was and how she tarnished Peridot as a character. She was a fan hire and it led to her pretty much getting kicked out
I hadn't heard about this, what did zuke do?

All I can say is that Riley's gonna have one fucked up adulthood
How'd Alice Cooper put it?

I user to be such a sweet sweet thing till they got a hold of me.

Poor girl I just hope they don't mess her up too much in this sequel and show us she's not Destin to be a complete and utter wreck later in life, growing up in San Fran in the post modern world? She'd need a 10 in luck to grow up even remotely normal.

Zuke was a fan hire from tumblr who was the sole reason why peridot's character was sabotaged into what disaster she was after being redeemed. She also attempted to shoehorn/force her ship, Lapidot, as canon in the show. There's theories that apparently Zuke going a bit too far with changing Peridot's character as her self insert is what led to her being removed and the barn being destroyed by Lapis herself was a big fuck you to Zuke. Basically the biggest example of how Sugar fucked up allowing her storyboard artists and writers to mess with her show and being way too lenient and laid back

The barn being yeeted upside Blue Diamond's head was so funny, especially if you'd been following the fandom memes at the time. "Where character development goes to die".
