Some of the people who are just sensitive to it might have that as a problem. Modern breeds of wheat have been breed to be very heavy in gluten compared to older types. Us Celiacs just have a small auto-immune reaction to it, just a tiny little thing. But it is weird how alcohol is so inconsistent, my usual winding down drink, if I have one, is just rum and coke, or Dr. Pepper, so it's not an issue. We have an Ohio based vodka distiller that uses corn, and people would probably be surprised at how much wine is produced in the state and the Miami Valley region in particular. It's pretty good, especially if you like the sweeter end of the spectrum. But then again the state sport is binge drinking.
