Times have changed. Diabetics used to get a lot of sympathy 40+ years ago when most were Type 1s. The obesity epidemic has changed many folks view as they see all the fatties being diagnosed and increasing health care costs (including insurance) for everyone else. So type 2 gets seen as a selfish, self-inflicted chronic disease, that many, many sufferers will not take responsibility for or adjust their diet/lifestyle to mitigate the damages it causes.

Yeah, Chantal. "Diet and exercise." GREAT PLAN! Remember the "water fast" she went on a couple of months ago? She didn't make it 12 hours before "feeling dizzy, lightheaded, etc." and just had to stuff her face. What she really needs is to have her A1C checked -- that tests measures your blood sugar levels over time and that's the only way she can see where her BSLs actually are. However, we all know she's been ignoring this for years and something tells me that she's going to need to start meds ASAP. She's at big risk for developing diabetic retinopathy which is caused by random blood vessels forming in your eyes due to the high blood sugar. It wouldn't surprise me if she's developed it already given her shitty eyesight that seems to be getting worse as of late. Not to mention the increased risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetic neuropathy, kidney disease, atherosclerosis,, slow wound healing, and gangrene.
