Just dissociate yourself from your PC. You're not the same people. Makes it much easier to imagine the PC is romancing a character and not you and it's like you're watching a romantic movie with some action fantasy in-between and you're not imagining you are the PC doing the actual romancing. Don't say, "I romanced X" say "my PC romanced X."

It's why I prefer the Dark Urge as my PC. It's a lot more fun to think about him as a facet of the story itself than my vicarious double.

In TN, Paternity Fraud will now be actively be punished by fines and jail time.

If the romance is not that cringe it's okay imo.

Dsp doesn't like romance in games too because he has a wife.

Also who you choose/prefer to romance says a lot about yourself. It's good to know

My College of Lore wood gnome bard was just minding his own business before he woke up on a Mindflayer ship. Now he's trapped with some whiny emo goth chick, a tiefling that replaced the bitch the emo goth chick killed, and Gale, who was supposed to be my bro that could finally talk arcane shop with my bard, but he ended up being a huge faggot. No, my gnome is going just wants to get shit over with and go home.

Gale is not gay he's just PLAYERSEXUAL.
Actually for gnomes it makes sense in the lore it's said that gnomes are nearly exclusively attracted to gnomes and crossbreeding with other races is impossible.

Great, I will roleplay a gnome who rants about miscegenation to other gnomes while going into weird rants about "race realism" just so I can drop half-orc IQ stats on the party.

This is basically an Arcanum gnome, though they'd be promoting racemixing of non-gnomes instead of trying to stop all racemixing.

I also found the setting really odd, in retrospect. Usually the romance developed as a result of characters bonding over their mutual plight. But in BG3, it really just came down to, "Oi! Fancy a fuck, ole' chap?"

That's the other issue I had. In BG2, at least, if you didn't romance Aerie, then Haer'Dalis would romance her instead. If your PC is choosing to shack up with Karlach, for instance, then why wouldn't Gale start dating Shadowheart? It's like it's either your PC or they're forever single. That's fucked up.

The ideal level of romance in a movie is what you see in movies like Gladiator and John Wick.
