Navy SEALs, Delta Force, and SOCOM general - The most "Special" groups in the U.S. Military

Robert O'Neill the SEAL team Six member who shot bin Laden, Yeah!, or not really. Allegedly, he was just the 4th man in the room after the SEAL who shot him. Guilty of “canoeing” the head of bin Laden, making facial identification impossible (was warned against doing this by his command but did it anyway). Claimed he was the one who killed him, despite severe inconsistencies in his story. Robert is an enterprising guy, though, who will never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Makes tons of cash thanks to his acquired fame. Is also a severe Alcoholic who has problems with the law recently and was even banned from Delta Air Lines for public intoxication.

It seems like those who say he didn't shoot Bin Laden are mad that he's made so much money off of it. The guys in the video you linked are reviewing an interview that happed a decade after the raid, so it's all rehearsed now and not actual memory anymore. Rob has definitely embellished and punched up the stories over the years to make it a better story and that's where the criticism comes from. The Pentagon has backed up his story, and McRaven, who oversaw the raid and who would know, has confirmed it multiple times.

What about the future former US marine/navy seals, professional rapper, gamer, street racer, juggalo, stoner and warlords?
Deagle Nation has American's best. They are out of my investigative reach and their conduct is the pride of all men and women in uniform.
While not a lolcow, i find the wife of that ex seal who outs stolen valor frauds incredibly annoying.
I imagine you are talking about Diane Shipley? Do mention the spouses. Gallagher's wife is arguably bigger scum than him. I may have to do a special part of the OP just for their wives. We'll see.
Are we just speed running Jersh shooting himself in the back of the head 5 times at this point?
Well, I'm the OP as well, so expect me to die by five suicide stabs in the neck and throwing myself off a bridge afterward. if only I could have known what unholy retribution my little “clever” OP was about to bring down upon me, maybe I would have held my fucking tongue. But I didn't...

@Fake Steve Franssen
I know about Chris Beck from the trailer in the Shawn Ryan show. To be honest, I don't have the stomach for it and creeps me out immensely. I will add him, but I would seriously ask for help since he makes me sick to my stomach.
I'm sure Rangers and Force Recon, as well as some PMC folks (like erik prince/blackwater) might add to this as well.
Good op, fun rabbit hole for me later.
Erik Prince is deffo going into the list. But his story is quite extensive, and I want to be detailed.

@Glass House
McRaven has an incentive to protect the integrity and brand of the SEALs to advance his career. Matthew Cole talked about him, and he might even make the list. But just in general, I'd suggest you to NEVER trust generals or admirals. They are literally politicians in uniform and are arguably the best at lying and covering up shit. And about Robert, his story is inconsistent with claims from other SEALs that were there. Also, you do an after action report after such missions and everything is recorded and reviewed for training/legal purposes. I don't think “memory” plays a part here.

Okay, here's the interview with Shawn Ryan; the SEAL who transitioned and de-transitioned, Chris Beck. I'll be honest, bros, I don't have it in me to watch it. I find listening to this Chris utterly repulsive to my core. If you guys want to dive into the corn and give me the brief on him here, I'll be thankful, so I can add him to the OP. I'll credit you properly in the OP.

DJ Shipley, son of famous stolen Valor ouster Don Shipley did an interview. He's certainly a character and a massive roidhead. You guys can decide if he's worth being in the list.

And as a palate cleanser, if you want to hear a cool fucking interview with a dude that was a Delta in Black Hawk Down, watch the Tom Satterly interview.

Iirc the lone survivor guy or whatever, the arab who helped him escape was even sure that he was exaggerating his story.
Not Arab but Konari Pashtun but yes that sounds correct.

It's been an open secret in the SOF and intel community since probably literally the SAR/recovery mission that Marcus Luttrell's account of the firefight was grossly exaggerated.

We're going to increasingly see documents declassified related to Operation Red Wings due to the expiration of the classification period, but,
I can say at an unclassified level that we debriefed fighters who had taken part in the attack and they told us that the force attacking the SEALs was SIGNIFICANTLY smaller (10 - 30 fighters) than Luttrell estimates in the book (up to 200) and sustained very few, if any, casualties. (This is an important detail because Luttrell claims to have seen multiple enemy fighters killed or to have killed multiple himself)

IIRC also, the Rangers and SEALs who arrived in the aftermath of Red Wings II (the shoot down of the MH-47 attempting to rescue Luttrell's team) also saw evidence that Axelson had survived for some period longer than Luttrell claimed -- the implication being that while Axelson was wounded and still possibly fighting or attempting to escape, that Luttrell had bugged out and left his buddy.

This is a really good account by a Ranger in the 75th and deals with some of the inconsistencies:

Also I just want to point out that there is a big difference between SEAL Teams 1-8, 10 and 6/DEVGRU, somewhat on par with the distinction between the Ranger Battalions and Delta Force.

SEAL Team 6/DEVGRU is a Tier 1 unit at the level of Delta or some other organizations (Ranger Reconnaissance Detachment/Company) and has its own assessment and selection program that SEALs from the other teams can attend based on some criteria like rate and time in service.

The only reason I bring this up is because in the SOF community there is definitely a reputation that the Tier 2 SEAL teams are less professional and more immature than, say, the Special Forces ODAs due to their training pipeline and mission set. We definitely saw this when some SEALs were tasked with training and advising missions that are really the raison d'etre of the SF ODAs but the demands of the strategy in Afghanistan had ODAs stretched too thin.

Do just the Navy SEALs have particular penchant for drama and egotism amongst some of its soldiers or is it a general issue with American special forces in general? These guys are notorious on their own merits but I am just wondering if there are others.
I've worked alongside SOF veterans and almost all of them are sex pests to some degree (a lot of them participate in swinging) and most of them are open about using dogs/cats/goats/etc as target practice when bored on deployment.

I watched this in its entirety half a year ago. Skimming the transgender segments now; he rambles a lot and goes down bunny trails often; Shawn struggles to wrangle him at points. The tranny highlights:
  • He had a rough-ish childhood (a lot of corporal punishment that was focused on him rather than his siblings, little to no affection from his parents).
  • As a teen/pre-teen, he befriended a Native American pedo who had been kicked from the reservation and while showering at the guy's house the pedo attempted to molest him. This had a large impact on him and has fueled his hatred of drag queen story hours and other attempts to groom the youth.
  • Says half of transgenders have autogynephilia and that it's a money-making industry now being driven by plastic surgeons and psychologists.
  • Started crossdressing in 7th or 8th grade; it started as jealousy of the favoritism his sisters were receiving from his parents and was also partly caused by the deep sexual repression at his home and at his Christian school.
  • He speculates that some of his mental health issues may be caused by generational trauma from his whack family.
  • He thinks exposure to pornography is even worse than the intense sheltering he grew up in (Shawn seems uncomfortable lol).
  • The crossdressing was rare and came to a halt during his time in the SEALs due to lack of privacy.
  • PTSD, a TBI, drug use, and worse mental health issues from severe hazing during BUD/S and other training spurred him to transition. His mental health issues and substance abuse had already pushed away a lot of his friends and family. He didn't get any surgeries but did take hormones.
  • His conversion to Christianity led him to detransition and he's being vocal about the tranny agenda to hopefully stop children from being indoctrinated and mutilating their genitals. Says gays are targeted for brainwashing into trannies. Posits the tranny agenda is pushed by the Deep State and has satanic/demonic roots. Shawn is palpably uncomfortable at both his talk on faith and the Deep State.

He's pretty whack in the head but he has a level of introspection most lack. I know this is only a partial summary; he goes into some stories about his time in the military and some inventions he made but I can't watch the full 6 hrs again.

SEALs:
>retard grifter
>retard grifter WITH A BOOK
>retard grifter who can shoot really far
>retard grifter who killed 50+ brown kids and cries about it

Navy reserves:
>IRL rambo who killed like 3 cops and took days to find
>first man to walk on the fucking moon
>world-reknown cult leader who the FBI fears and Tom Cruise fellates

It's over for spec ops larpers

Interesting thread, kiddo

America's Elite of the Elite, the killers of Osama bin Laden, proud owners of a trident insignia, the U.S. Navy SEA, AIR, LAND teams (SEAL teams) are without a doubt the most famous group in the US military. SEALs are a synonym with “Super Soldiers”, it's probably the most famous “elite” military group that most normies know about. They are a brand with books, movies, and vidya done about them. They are the primary recruiting force in the Navy. (SEALs perform the same task for the Navy as Top Gun did for the Air Force). American Sniper is the highest grossing war movie in American history.

Nah, it was always the Marines for me.

Matthew Devoria is a role model since I was 15

To become a SEAL, you need to join the U.S. Navy and then go to BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training) which has 3 phases. An infamous training course lasting 6 months, many have compared it to actual torture with physical activities including hours lasting “log PT”, freezing in the surf of Coronado beach at night called “moon tanning”, using boats to navigate the surf, etc. There's also a shit ton of running in boots. The first phase of BUD/S ends with a famous “Hell week” where for a week the trainees get barely any sleep as they perform an insane amount of physical training in the beach while wet, cold and sandy. The second phase of BUD/S is how you learn to be a frogman. There's lots of swimming, including a controversial drownproofing training evolution. On the third phase of BUD/S you learn the LAND aspects of being a commando and lots and lots of PT and running. Steroid use and pain medication is rampant to cope with the physical stress. Lying about it and hiding it also becomes routine.

Lol at the normies trying to do 'Bootcamp' training and 'Marine training' and 'Navy SEALs training' thinking they'll get jacked.

These trainings are not to build muscle or strengthen anybody. Quite the contrary, in fact. They are designed to weaken people physically and psychologically so they can be broken so hard they can Abu Grhaib the fuck out of people.

The SEALs, unlike Delta, were happy to plus up, and have their teams become squadrons, circa 2006. That lead to an increase in SEALs, decreasing standards and heightened tempo of operations,
Right off the bat this is blatantly false. Delta formed another assault squadron c. 2008. Delta has lowered standards so significantly that they had an operator blatantly abusing cocaine and ecstasy, murdering a fellow soldier, and not even being fired from the unit. He was then later murdered by a random niggo in a drug deal gone wrong.

Then there was the Delta Operator who had a negligent discharge with a breaching charge, killing himself and a British SAS Operator; and wounding 5 other service members. Delta lied to the British MOD and said it was an IED.

Then there was another Delta Operator who mistook one of his own teammates for a Taliban fighter and killed him in Afghanistan and Delta reported it as enemy action.

Anyone who's actually served with Army special operations knows they are full of shit when they criticize SEALs. It's a smoke screen they throw up to distract from their own shortcomings. There's lots more I could add.

I've been fact-checked. And I've found more about Delta during the surge. Will delete that part from the OP. Thanks man!
@Big Miss Steak Thank you for your service. Will also update the OP

Goggins does also, but he's a bit of a lolcow,
David Goggins was always in it to be somebody with a story. He joined the Air Force with the intention of becoming a PJ. During training he was diagnosed with sickle cell trait. He refused to be recycled to the next training group after he recovered and sometimes talks about how watching the water training scared the shit out of him. After not completing Pararescue training, he finished out his contract as a TACP.

He claims he walked into a Navy recruiter's office weighing 300 pounds and the recruiter gave him 3 months to get down to 191 pounds. My first question is how the fuck do you get to 300 pounds 18 months removed from Active Duty? I ate unhealthy food, sat in an air conditioned cab 10-14 hours a day for 8 months, and gained 15 pounds.

I made the mistake of having this on as background noise during a day of work around the house.
I don't know this person from a hole in the ground [with another smelly hole in it], but the whole, "the computer chips are listening", although not wrong... I just couldn't find myself believing this person was entrusted with this information

David Goggins was always in it to be somebody with a story
Bingo
Turbogrifter who wants to be Tony Robbins on disability
