Yea, besides if your parents are 94yo like that guy then odds are you're the boomer. The oldest boomers AFAIK still have to hit 80.this absolutely feels like a cope article written by people who not only hate their own parents, but older people and people they consider """"boomers"""" (aka 'older than me and LE BAD') as a whole
Nah price is a problem too, and quality furniture was never cheap. Even back in the day it was considered an investment because you couldn't just buy a new armoire on a whim. That's why intergenerational furniture was a thing, it was part culture and part necessity. This doesn't seem like minimalism as much as companies have successfully convinced younger generations that furniture should be as cheap and disposable and so as endlessly replaceable as fast fashion.
But nowadays? I recently wanted to get an actual table made of real wood, and even one that was made of fancy plywood would cost me enough to furnish an entire studio apartment. High prices of quality furniture lead to lower demands which leads to lower production and higher prices, which is why particle board shit from ikea and others sells so well.
The middle class is dying, its that simple.
