Hamas expresses desire to extend truce with Israel past initial four days

Hamas is seeking to extend the ongoing truce and hostage agreement beyond the initial four-day period, the terror group announced on Sunday night.

In a statement, the Palestinian terror group said it was hoping to extend the temporary ceasefire, which is currently scheduled to end on Monday night, in order to secure the release of more Palestinian security prisoners jailed by Israel.

The Qatar-negotiated deal between Israel and Hamas stipulates that 50 women and children taken hostage by Hamas during its October 7 onslaught must be freed over the course of a four-day ceasefire in exchange for 150 Palestinian female and underage security prisoners.

The deal also allows for both sides to agree to extend the truce by an additional day for every 10 hostages released after the initial 50, for a maximum of 100. In return, Israel will release up more security inmates by a ratio of three for every hostage.

Thus far, 39 Israeli hostages and 117 Palestinian prisoners have been released as part of the deal, not including an Israeli-Russian man and 19 foreign nationals freed from Gaza separately from the Israel-Hamas agreement.
The statement published by Hamas appeared to be the first time that Gaza’s ruling terror group has formally expressed its desire to extend the truce, which has allowed for the first break in the intense fighting since the outbreak of war.

Earlier Sunday, a Hamas source told AFP that the terror group was interested in extending the truce for 2-4 days, indicating that 20-40 more hostages may be freed this week.
The US also expressed hope Sunday that the truce will be extended for several more days, but noted that it was up to Hamas to ensure that it does, as Israel has already set out the conditions for doing so.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said in an interview on Sunday that the pause could be “extended for another day, or two days, or three days or even more.”

“The ball is in Hamas’s court on that because what Israel has said is that it is prepared to pause another day of fighting for every 10 hostages that Hamas releases,” he told ABC’s “This Week.”

“If the pause stops, the responsibility for that rests on the shoulders of Hamas, not on the shoulders of Israel,” the top Biden aide asserted.

He acknowledged that the truce has allowed Hamas the ability to “refit and retool” and to “generate propaganda” on social media.

Despite this, he later told NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the reason that Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ultimately chose to accept the risks that accompany the hostage deal is “because of the benefit they’re getting, which are these incredible images of people being reunited with their families — the humanity of it, the sense of accomplishment of that and the possibility and promise that more and ultimately, all of the hostages will come home.”

Shortly after Hamas announced its desire to extend the truce, Netanyahu said in a video that he had told US President Joe Biden that he too is open to extending the current truce, but that once it is over, the IDF ground operation will return in full force.
“We brought home another group of hostages, children and women, and I am moved to the depths of my heart, the entire nation is, when we see families reunited,” he said in the video.

Netanyahu said he also told Biden that “at the end of the deal, we are returning full power to carry out our aims: destroy Hamas, ensure that Gaza won’t return to what it was, and of course to free all of our hostages.”

“I am sure that we will succeed in this mission — because we have no other choice,” he finished.

Following Hamas’s October 7 onslaught in southern Israel — in which thousands of terrorists burst through the border into Israel and killed at least 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and seized some 240 hostages — Israel vowed to root out Hamas from the Gaza Strip, where the group has ruled for the last 16 years.

The Jewish state launched an aerial campaign followed by a ground incursion, which has focused mainly on northern Gaza, but is expected to widen later in the war.

Although thousands of displaced Gazans have attempted to return to the remains of their homes in the northern part of the enclave, the IDF has remained adamant that the pause is temporary, and that the operation will resume with full force after the temporary truce is over.

TL;DR: Hamas wants to extend the ceasefire past the 4 days agreed upon, the terms for extending the ceasefire is that 10 Israeli hostages must be released from the Gaza Strip per day. The hostage/prisoner trade for the extended ceasefire will be 1 Israeli per 3 Palestinians, with a maximum of 100 Israelis to be released. I see a report from OSINTDefender on Twitter (OSINTdefender is usually a decent source for information despite letting his biases slip) that this has already been agreed upon but I do not see any news sources confirming it yet

Yeah, sure Hamas is using the time to restock and regroup, but delaying tactics won't matter if Hamas doesn't figure out a way out of the Gaza Strip. They've proven they can't hold it and can't defend their nominal citizens. Long term, the hostage negotiations aren't worth losing the leverage of the hostages if the war is going to continue anyways.

As I understand, this has always been a planned and permitted part of the deal. That's why Israel's list of pending prisoner releases has a total of 300 entries rather than 150. Barring Hamas breaking the deal immediately, I always found it was more likely than not that these extra hostage releases would be extended into so that Hamas can stave off round two of getting stomped, their further hope that Israel would cave to international pressure during this lull to cancel the invasion's continuation entirely.

On Nov. 26, the USS MASON (DDG 87), with allied ships from our coalition counter-piracy task force (TF 151), and associated aircraft responded to a distress call from the M/V CENTRAL PARK, a commercial vessel, that they were under attack by an unknown entity. Upon arrival, coalition elements demanded release of the vessel. Subsequently, five armed individuals debarked the ship and attempted to flee via their small boat. The MASON pursued the attackers resulting in their eventual surrender. The crew of the M/V CENTRAL PARK is currently safe. At approximately 0141 on Nov. 27 Sanaa time, two ballistic missiles were fired from Houthi controlled areas in Yemen toward the general location of the USS MASON (DDG 87) and M/V CENTRAL PARK. The missiles landed in the Gulf of Aden approximately ten nautical miles from the ships. The USS MASON (DDG87), which is part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, was concluding its response to the M/V CENTRAL PARK distress call at the time of the missile launches. There was no damage or reported injuries from either vessel during this incident. “Maritime domain security is essential to regional stability,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, USCENTCOM commander. “We will continue to work with allies and partners to ensure the safety and security of international shipping lanes.”

Pretty sure the only thing holding back Israel is the chance of killing their own hostages. Hamas is stuck between a rock and a hard place. They can buy more time with returned hostages, but they only have a finite amount of hostages to return, especially living hostages. Returning all the hostages drops all leverage they have, though. I'm guessing 20 to 50 will be held as some reserve.

I'm concerned that they've already released a 25 year old man (he's also Russian so that may be a factor) rather than more elderly or young children. If they're at a point where they need to release young men already, it doesn't bode well.

How long is Israel and the rest of the world going to tolerate this shit and finally do something? Where they in international waters or Yemen's? (not that that group has any rightful authority over the countries waters to begin with)
What's even more egregious is that there is already an international task force in the area due to attacks by Somali pirates. The response should be faster and far more overwhelming than it is.

They've already hijacked two ships. Maybe WWIII really will be between the West and the Middle East while China and Russia wait to pick up the pieces afterwards.
I think when the 84 year old Ayatollah dies shit will go crazy. But who knows maybe he will "have a heart attack" and just keal over next week. We can only hope. But i think sooner or later one of these retards will fire on a carrier and then oh boy shits off the table.

China and Russia have their own history with Muslims and the middle east. Wouldn't even be surprised if they joined in just to Berlin the entirety of it.

Recovered footage from October 7th from security camera inside a gas station.

It's nice that in a day as horrible as Oct 7 was, You can still find a few spots of genuine comedy.

My favourite moments are when the guy sees that the cash registry is locked so he grabs a bagel as compensation, the dumbass running around with the box of orange fanta (that's going to fizz out as soon as he opens it), and the retard who took the trash can.

This video needs to be edited with cartoon sound effects

"Why won't you release videos of a murdered child's naked and broken pelvis so I can tell you it's AI generated?"

No proof will ever be good enough, and although I think that Israel should release all the footage it has, let's not pretend like the /pol/fags won't just move the goalposts again after they've finished jerking off.
Yeah exactly, that's why I think if there are photos of beheaded babies (would not at all be surprised if photos exist) it would be idiotic for Israel to give into pressure and release those pictures. It kind of comes down to respecting the dead vs. owning /pol/fags and leftist retards. You tell me which is more virtuous.

The Spanish president, Pedro Sánchez, during his trip to Israel and Palestine

Barcelona - Hamas has thanked the Spanish President, Pedro Sánchez, and the Belgian Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo, for their "clear and bold" views on the war in Gaza and the death of civilians in the conflict. In a message broadcast through its official news agency, Shehab, Hamas highlights that Sánchez "indicated the possibility of his country taking the individual decision to recognize a Palestinian state if the European Union does not take this step." The terrorist organization also claims that both leaders expressed their rejection "of the destruction of Gaza and the indiscriminate killing of civilians" by Israel.
Omg wow, who knew that all you had to do to gain Sanchez's approval was to stage a huge psychotic massacre against teenagers at a music festival and go door to door shooting entire families at point blank range?

There is absolutely zero chance for a permanent ceasefire. Hamas is DONE, period; Israel has made its destruction a public war goal and intends to see that through. Hamas is a terrorist organization whose entire raison d'etre is the destruction of the Jewish state. They would never recognize the Jewish state as a legitimate entity, let alone negotiate with them as equals. This ceasefire is a tactical move to try to regroup their forces and establish some kind of defense. And at this point, it doesn't even look Hamas will hold to their end of the bargain.
Israel has also indicated that the filthy rich leaders vibing in Qatar have targets on their foreheads now and their days are numbered. Not really sure what the political strategy was when publicizing this information, but I guess if you know anything about the Mossad's assassination track record, it doesn't really matter where these guys are hiding out. Also, Haniyeh is gonna have a hard time blending in with those god awful eyebrows.

Putin requested his release lol.

Sad tragic Irish guy got his daughter back. What a roller coaster.

ETA: This story broke my heart when I first heard it. What a relief that he was able to get her back. But, does anyone know why the IDF may have initially told him that she was dead? In that interview, he said the IDF told him, "We found Emily, she's dead." But I suppose it's possible that he was relaying his interpretation of what they told him? She was at Kibbutz Be'eri, which was pretty much burned to the ground. Maybe they found her possessions or DNA evidence of her being in a completely scorched house and then ran with it?
