Disney’s “Wish” Fails to Perform at the Box Office

Disney didn’t score big at the box office with its latest animation film, “Wish.”

The studio’s latest film, with Ariana DeBose as the main character and Chris Pine as the big bad, bombed with moviegoers over the holiday break, TMZ reported.

“Wish” only reigned in $31.7 million through the 5-day “weekend, a significant difference to the projected $45-$50 mil over the same 5 days.

The film didn’t do well internationally either, pulling in just $17.3M.

Disney is typically a powerhouse that dominates the box office during this time of year, with releases like Encanto and Coco in the past.

However, this movie, which got good reviews, may have been impacted by the SAG strike. Now it joins the list of other Disney films that didn’t do so well, like ‘Indiana Jones’ and “The Haunted Mansion.”

I guess Disney didn't get their Wish.

Soon your failure will be complete, Disney. Remember, it was you that asked for this. You called people racists, sexists and various other -ists and -phobes. You chose to push sexualization onto small children who don't - no, can't understand what sex is.
You sowed it, now reap the fruits of it all.

Oh, I just realized they're already setting the narrative for why this movie bombed:

No the fuck it didn't. It was impacted by years of pushing "whitey bad" and "BIPOCs and LGBTQ+ good" by the company, and parents have been catching on and are sick of it. Wish wasn't at all impacted by the strike because otherwise, production would've grounded to a halt and forced Disney to push the date back. Wouldn't have made much of a difference if it was actually impacted because it looked like shit from the very first image released.

Not sure how true this is, but I have heard that the basic premise of this film was supposed to be sort of an origin point of the "When you wish upon a star" shit and have it tie a ton of Disney shit together, but after certain people got ahold of it, it changed to "lmao, girl takes power from man!" and it just steadily devolved into this.

if you're not aware (and why should you be?) the "villain" takes people's wishes, then on a long term basis grants them, as long as they are safe, "to protect his rule." Or, not destroy the fucking village, you know, like a reasonable ruler. A village that everyone loves so much by the way that they openly sing about how fucking great it is.

The girl basically thinks anyone should get their wish no matter what, because like the women who worked on this drivel, she has no concept of responsibility, consequences, or accountability.

Ironically, modern Disney is a lot like the villain of this movie. People are tired of Disney's boring ass DEI politics filled drivel meant to appeal to nobody but a tiny fraction of left wing extremists who don't believe in capitalism and won't go watch it anyway. Disney will only allow the safest, most basic shit to be squeezed from their big fat fucking diseased rat buttcheeks, and then call you a racist or a bigot when you don't go watch it.

This company can't fucking die soon enough.

The marketing was non-existent, I didn't know the movie was happening until I saw 5 Nights and the teaser for it told me nothing and didn't sell it. I find that really odd. I'm of the opinion that with all the meddling that supposedly happened behind the scenes with redesigns, it was written off as a failure early and abandoned in the crib. It's definitely different as a bomb than The Marvels.

I had to look up what movie was this, I never heard of it and I am not even exaggerating

This screenshot caught my eye because it looks like the Barbie movies I used to watch, but that was in the late 90's / early 2000's

Supposedly they are trying to emulate the watercolor style of Disney's classic animated movies, but it just looks incredibly flat and boring, like they haven't done the lighting effect pass yet.

When the hell are the investors going to start calling for blood? I know that Disney has been able to get away with the illusion of selling out premieres for some time by buying up unsold seats, but that doesn't translate to actual sales. They've ran both Marvel and Star Wars into the ground as well, and those were massive purchases. I haven't seen any kind of advertising for their streaming service as of late either, so I'm thinking they've slashed their budgets on that end as well. What the fuck does Disney even have right now? They put a lot of eggs in the ESG basket, and they still seem to be hesitant to move away from that despite institutional investors evacuating that stance rather swiftly. When the hell will the execs start being crucified? Are the theme parks really making enough of a killing to cover for these constant, massive losses?
