What are some examples of content that is transformative yet plagiarized?
IH's cave video, the original version. The script is blatantly plagiarized but, arguably, the elaborate visual elements transform the original work which was a written article with some photos.

He wouldn't want to counter the copyright claim because it would just draw more attention to what he had done and it would be a protracted, expensive legal battle even though he'd have a good chance of winning.

Internet cahntent is not academic research.
It is art, and art has always been "plagiarized" without anyone giving a shit. Composers taking melodies from others and doing their own spin on it has been happening for hundreds of years, same in painting.
That's how styles even developed.

Gay leftist is only one step away from copyright and DMCA bitches, who have made the internet worse for decades.
Pretty much. The entire entertainment industry, especially the game industry's foundation is nothing but ideas or art stripped and sampled from other ideas/art to the point of playing a balancing act on a tight rope with legal action. You're not going to get away with making a SMB or Doom in this day and age without a breadtuber reeling in rage over their respective Bobby Prince's and Koji Kondo's for committing grave crimes of "plagiarism" and proceeding to get millions of views to denounce them that's for sure.

I was hoping the video would be more about the plagiarism in spirit that's common on youtube, and the internet in general, these days instead of just focusing on academic style plagiarism. Like for example this Mr. Beast clone industry
surving 24 hours.png

, or how ironically this very video essay will be cloned dozens of times and "youtube plagiarism" will be the new current thing we all have to listen to people whine about for the next year. Instead the essay was just him finding a few high profile content farms who steal articles and gave way more examples of the theft than necessary. I think at this point delivering information in the least concise way possible is the main appeal of this type of video, a 4 hour runtime means it'll be 4 hours before you have to minimize minecraft to find another background noise video.

As for the Internet Historian jabs, I don't care. That guy likely caused thousands of faggy kids to start shitting up 4chan, fuck him

Everyone trying to debate the ethics of plagiarism on YT seem to forget that almost every target (and yes that is what they are to dear old Harris here) is on the less guilty end of this spectrum and frankly don't do it that often, as he oh so conveniently ignores most of the other YT content creators who are far worse about plagiarism and do it constantly.
Hey wait a minute, didn't HBomberGuy plagiarize a bunch of forum posts to make his Fallout 3 video?

I forgot all about that until just now.

Oh this is gun be good.

Internet historian surprised me as well, once you hit that gold button status, you're beyond reproach and afford to stay lazy. That's human nature I suppose, at least he isn't in the faggot/troon category.

Internet historian has been slow as fuck after his varus videos, to the point his videos aren't shown in the front page, only the usual vapid color saturated videos on the front page. Newpipe, which is less diseased YouTube client show "popular" videos when you open it.

Human creativity is finite ladies and gents.
Do you niggas not know of incognito and storytime

I swear to god everytime I hear someone complain about IH upload scedule its like they aren't even aware he has 2 other channels with shitloads of high quality content.

I wasn't referencing IH per se, just examples in general. I do agree he should've referenced the original author and added more of his own content.

Back in 2009-2010 for example, Viacom struck down Spongebob YTPs because it didn't consider them transformative. It did this with AMVs and related arrangements too. I doubt the people making the Ken or American Psycho edits got written permission from movie companies to use their work.
Folding Ideas is in Todd's comments too. Wonder what Somerton did to get them all so angry.

He's actually sort of right there. Those "Hot Nazis" are a reference to Tom of Finland, who drew the quintessential gay art of the 70s and 80s. While he hated Nazis, their aesthetic was huge in his work. That aesthetic just inspired gay swole culture in general.

Harry can make good videos but he also be insufferable, him pretending to not know what breadtube is in the IH segment was especially egregious
To be fair to Harris in this instance Breadtube is a term invented by fans of Contrapoints that attempted to lump all of the anarcho communist youtubers together into one club under a book most of them haven't read and isn't well liked in that club anyway. It seemed that they started distancing themselves from it publicly due to Peter Coffin being a retard and being the one who liked the title the most.
Was it just a quip, or was it some extended segment?
There's a part where he talks about "reaction videos" and shows two segments where Hasan Piker and XQC leave the video running in the background while they leave and do other things and make millions of views on it. The Hasan Piker one is where he's viewing one of Harris's videos and the XQC one is where he's viewing the Man in the Cave video.

I do think Hasan Piker isn't well liked by these people behind the scenes but they don't publicly cast shade on him because of how massive his audience is and how much they overlap. I wouldn't be surprised if Harris also despises Vaush but maintains appearances for that same reason. I suspect going after James Somerton in particular was a calculated risk because it very easily could've backfired on him and caused a lot of his fanbase to turn on him unless he spent 2 hours going into it like he did here.

These people are well aware of how vicious and dangerous the leftist mob is and also how to weaponize it.
I think this is more because he lost his hair and grew a beard to compensate for it. He was going bald in his earliest videos so it was inevitable he'd eventually shave it off to avoid the George Costanza look.
>leftoids who want to abolish all private property when someone violates their favorite jewtuber's intellectual "property" (the most phony type of property right in fucking history)

Leftists excuse theft if it's a target they dislike. It's the case of "There are no bad tactics only bad targets". He subtly points this out at one point when he mentions that in politics nobody cares if you steal from the opposing side because they're your enemy anyway. I'm certain if James Somerton stole from a corporation and not poor dead gay people he wouldn't have made the video about him to begin with.

I'm sorry, but does the original IH upload even really plagiarize the article or just hold a few similarities? Somebody here uploaded the original video's transcript, and it doesn't seem like it actually falls under plagiarism. Has anybody really checked to see how similar the video is to the article itself instead of "Source: Trust me and a few snippets I found"? If anybody has access to any really good plagiarism checkers, please be my guest.

The more I read on this the more it seems like IH did His due diligence, but that wasn't enough so Mental Floss tried to copyright NAZI him into changing more of it, or sharing profits or whatever. Historian has a good motive to not fight them too much on it because he values his anonymity as had the video gone to court, IH would have stood a good chance of being doxed by records (Assuming Australian court works anything like American Court)

If this is what happened and I do believe it is, no wonder he just left it at "Copyright claim" and dealt with the matter quietly - not that he was under any obligation to make a big deal out of it anyway. So you have answers to a lot of whys, and I still don't believe the original video was "plagiarized" And a few similar-sounding (but mis-ordered) snippets won't be enough to change my mind.

So what does IH lose in all of this? Retarded, assblasted, slacktivist commies who want to transition little kids? Good. Fuck Em.

Oh I am not assuming Folding is wrong or lying. I'm just suprised at how coordinated this seems. Somerton sounds like a wanker, but why are they suddenly now fed up with him? Did he do something, or did Breadtube only just find out he stole so much?

You only need to expose him for being rich. I think with this video he will hit the 100k usd goal (30k-35k paypigs, 2 USD minimum pledge) and he keeps his patreon income private which is something rich people do to ensure poor people don't question them according to Lenin. He will be right behind chapo and contra as the richest breadtuber of all time and probably among the top richest youtubers as well. Despite that fact he doesn't pay charities like other breadtubers, always fundraises, he rarely does anything with his own funds and I'm sure he squanders it away.
Leftists came up with an excuse for this with a simple sentence. "There is no ethical consumption under capitalism". Which basically means "The system as it exists today is exploitative so there is no way to be ethical under it. Therefore I don't need to have principles." This is a tactic employed by Vaush whenever he gets called out on how capitalistic he acts.

However Harris can also point out he's donating the money from this video to the people victimized by Somerton so he has another out there.

Great video. Disappointed in IH. Speaks volumes of his character. He should own up to it, but if he were the type, maybe he wouldn't be in this situation. lol
He did own up, by correcting the situation when it was brought to his attention and dealing with it and the other party directly.

Don't mistake self-flaggelation for apology.

*Ad revenue from the video, ie disposable income. The patreon sub payments from newcomers and the money coming in from subs who abandoned the fanbase of the people he targetted will be an additional 1/8th if not a quarter of his current income. I saw this effect firsthand with speedoru whose punch punch forever video caused him to gain 300 subs and around 4k in additional patreon income. It's the same rhetorical trick breadtubers pull for charity streams, they raise the money of other people but pretend that they're giving money to charity when it's not actually part of their income, just spare funds they made by virtue signalling on social media about being charitable. I actually made an old list marking down the incomes of two most profitable patreon categories, breadtube and R34, idk if I still have it but breadtubers especially the ones at the top earn at least 6-8 times the amount the highest R34 artists do. The top earners themselves I think are chapo, some leftie podcast I don't remember the name of, contrapoints, hbomb and Jenny Nicholson. Chapo makes 100k, contra makes around 70-80k, hbomb makes around 65-70k and Jenny Nicholson makes around 50-60k (all of these are monthly). I think hbomb will overtake contra with the release of this video.

If Harry did that he’d get hit by the same issues he was criticising. He’d probably joke about that fact as well as if that should absolve him.

He used that argument to defend literal fucking child pornography. I must say, if his idea was to make the ultimate refutation of the argument, he did it.
