Love to hear a kiwi take on crystology, if we have any adherents / practitioners amongst us

I used to like visiting those New Age shops a lot as a child and I got my first tarot deck which was a Le Normand style deck that I still have.

As an adult I am very interested in ancient astrology and Chinese mysticism like I-Ching. I am a bit weird in that when I watch a movie I like to pull up the actor's chinese birthcharts and make it a little character study for myself. The compatibility of the cast and why they might have been chosen for that role. I compare facial structure and look for similarities with others that I know of, I do the same for musicians in order to read into their lyrics and serial killers.

I also like to check a person's ki number, especially when I may have to deal with them. Sometimes it is very easy to spot an 8 or 9 stress number when they are losing their shit.

In Chinese astrology there are 12 heavenly branches starting with Rat, these alternate between yang (active) and yin (receptive) through to Pig. Each sign is a combination of elements and I believe is based on the placement of Jupiter whose orbit is 11.87 years. In the Ba Zi chart a person will be made up of a combination of 4 of these signs: Year/Month/Day/Hour.

Year is also your power, month is motives, hour is kids/thinking. There is also something called Spouse Star so look for yours in their chart :)

I have found that each sign has a certain 'vibe' and can also look similar to one another or have similar tendencies and strengths/weaknesses/crimes to commit. Each of the signs has it's friends and enemies and these can be utilized to create tension or chemistry in films. I have also noticed the animals being mentioned in said films pretty often.

The opposite sign of your secret friend is you secret enemy, these people won't seem immediately like enemies - Rabbit's secret enemy is Dragon. The female sign in the combination will always hurt the male sign more in these combinations (Rabbit is female)

There are also 10 heavenly branches which are the 5 elements in both their male and female forms. These additional elements strengthen certain traits found in the stems and create the 60 year cycle. A person whose birth year ends in 0 will always be Yang Metal, a person whose birth year ends in a 5 will always be Yin Wood .

It is best if the elements are all balanced so a person's lucky element will be whichever element his chart has the least of. In TCM excesses and deficiencies of the elements can cause certain ailments.

According to The Tibetan Astrological calendar which is what I use, The Year of the Dragon begins 12/13/23

Anyone here buy "wand bases"? Serious responses onlyView attachment 5539486View attachment 5539487
From what I have learned, a witch should avoid buying as much of her tools as possible and should attempt to craft them. They must be cleansed and then blessed with her energy. Most of my tools are either secondhand items, things I found, or personal items I repurposed. From what I understand, a witch’s wand should be made from a small living tree that she takes out of the ground herself and then whittles into the wand. I have not made one yet, but I will be on the journey for one soon. I would stay away from Etsy not only because the pedigree for the item cannot be verified, but it’s also really fun to go on a journey for an item or wait for it to come to you.

I get all of my magical advice from The Dresden Files novels and what @Mayhem says about crafting your own magical gear lines up. Needless to say that Harry Dresden didn't make the small quantity of depleted Uranium that he occasionally uses for rituals himself and he had to buy it without somehow attracting the attention of the Department of Energy.

I forgot to give the link, I use this website to find the day and month signs. After several years of testing it I am convinced that the Tibetan is more accurate than the Chinese astrological calendar.
Just taking a cursory glance around, this is fascinating. What do they mean when it says stuff like "Tortured by X spirits"? Is it like the thing on the day page where it says things like "Don't do landscaping today or you'll anger a naga"?

If the Dresden Files the one where everyone got the impression that you aren't supposed to say "Thank you" to fairies? If so, that isn't true.
You can say thank you, the problem is "debt". You aren't supposed to give or accept anything from the fey/faeries/fairies with the expectation of giving or receiving in return.
If you give something to them, be prepared to lose it. It's not a trade, and they don't owe you jack shit.
Conversely, if you receive something from them, accept it openly. Don't "cheapen" it by thinking you need to pay it back, or that it was something you were owed in exchange for anything you did.
Shameless shill for this book again:

Hm I'm not familiar with that? The website was in Belgian until a few months ago so I have only been using the Birth Horoscope section. It could be related to Chinese Symbolic Stars which happen under certain combinations of signs. You can find them using more in depth Ba Zi chart generator like this one although the calculations on the website will likely be using the Chinese calendar. Here is the corresponding heavenly stems table (H1 -H10) if you want to work it out youself.
Is it like the thing on the day page where it says things like "Don't do landscaping today or you'll anger a naga"?
As for the 'good and bad day for X', that is likely referring to the placement of the moon in the lunar mansions which will be favorable for certain things, like signing a contract or getting a haircut. Eastern astrology puts a great more deal of emphasis on the placement of the moon in a chart, rather than the sun like in the West. Tibetan Astrology is a hybrid between Chinese (Black) and Indian (White) astrology, the Chinese have 28 Mansions while Indian (Vedic) has 27 Mansions.

Also to correct myself in my post before last, there are 10 heavenly stems and 12 earthly branches.

I mostly do manifestation/LoA type stuff and make sigils. I've dabbled in lots of different occult things but I avoid anything to do with entities after a really spooky incident with a ouija board.

When it comes to astrology I'm not sure whether I believe in it. I think it's more interesting to see if it lines up with current world events rather than if it matches someone's personality.

Ooh what was the spooky incident, if you don't mind me asking?

I also practice other forms of astrology, I just like to study archetypes when I am watching movies as it helps me to know whether people are being authentic when I meet them in real life and also to learn about God by trying to understand his design.
