I majored in English Literature for my undergrad, and these types are a fucking dime a dozen now. Nearly everyone who registers in English Literature as a major is some flavour of gender special and believes they're the next big Literary genius and will be rich off of writing. Way too fucking many of them minor in "creative writing" (which is a huge fucking waste of money) or gender studies. Some do both! Tl;dr English Lit is fucking full of narcissistic troons and people who were told by their mommies or daddies one too many times that they're special.

These days you can write your entire thesis about how Chaucer's Wife of Bath made you decide you were an MTF lesbian and graduate based off of that. I knew two seperate transes in my masters who were writing spurious papers about tranny shit, and a third who was an enby fujo writing about how Dionysus was totes gay guise. There's no pushback on these 'muh personal experience' projects becausse the school wants money and doesn't want to get in trouble for invalidating students' experiences or w/e.

I feel like we’re in a place where academia is almost full Marxist and they hire people based on their loyalty to ideology rather than talent. Agreed with that. I'm admittedly an academictard with an obsession for learning, and some of the people I met through my degrees genuinely surprised me. They treat it like highschool. If you don't wanna be there, don't fucking go. You're an adult, you can do more than buy starbucks with your student loans.
