That's probably true for a lot of people that hate Jim, but I think Dean Pentel just genuinely doesn't like him.
I think some people idolize e-celebs too much, put them on a pedestal and when they are not the perfect idol they had in mind they simply turn to hate.

No I mean Dean Pentel genuinely finds Jim to be an annoying unfunny faggot with an annoying voice and can't stand him or the people who like him. No ulterior motives, no underlying issues, just doesn't like him.
He said at one point he keeps using the same mic because it's part of his videos identity, since he's "just a guy on the internet" and not a professional. He also said it was a way to avoid getting doxx'd at one point since the audio quality was quite poor it would be hard to clock him irl. Nowadays I suspect it's because it makes his audio sound evergreen to an extent. You can go back and watch his earliest videos like Momma Kay and one of his more recent livestreams and it feels very familiar.
It's hilarious that so many of them knew Jim and loved his "don't give a shit" brand of humor in his videos, but assumed them and the causes that they believed in were different. They were Jim's internet friend, he was on board for Gamergate or whatever they were into, and even though he mocked other people, he would never turn against them. And when they fucked up and discovered that they weren't immune from Jim's mockery, they went insane.
